View Full Version : Just Received Good News Regarding My Preorder!

I went to my local Gamestop tonight and asked if they got in enough Rock Band bundles to fill their preorders and they told me they did, in fact since I am going to be working there starting Monday, the manager showed me all of them in the back room. They come in huge standard brown cardboard boxes, but only 2 bundles can fit into each box. Considering how small the back room is at the store, there wasn't much room to move around. I am extremely excited to get Rock Band, but the only thing is that I am off on Tuesday so I will have to drive back there to pick up my preorder and it is a 30 mile drive. I was kinda hoping that I could take it home with me after work on Monday, but no dice. Oh well, since I have waited this long, what is another day. Rock on everyone!

Lame. If you are working there they should let you take the bundle home Monday since its only hours before the official street date.

Actually, I don't know for a fact that I can't take it home with me on Monday since I never really asked. I did mention something about working Monday and picking it up Tuesday to the manager, but I really didn't get a response. I will ask Monday and see what happens, but I am not getting my hopes up.

You want my honest opinion? If the manager seems cool, just take advantage of your status as an employee and complete the transaction yourself and take it home without mentioning it. If it comes up later you can just innocently assume it was ok. If you are unsure as to how easygoing he is, ask him. Be sure to mention how far away you live.

I don't know, that seems like a quick way to get yourself fired. I'd ask before breaking the street date on a game during my first day of work. :p

Well the way I see it, the manager has a low chance of even finding out he took it home the previous evening. Even if he does, I said its only a good idea if he's an easygoing guy.. :p

Horrible advice.

You will be told, day one, that you will never ring yourself out for anything. They find out you did this, it'll be instant termination, no questions asked.

News to me. Guess that rules that out.

News to me. Guess that rules that out.

The number one way employees steal money from a business is via the cash register. People will check themselves out and give themselves discounts on items, or take more money out of the register, etc. Forcing others to do it creates a check to generally ensure this doesn't happen as much as possible. If you do ring yourself out, there is going to be suspicion you're stealing from the register, and that's not a way to start your first day.

And remember kids, never do drugs before posting on forums.

Joking aside lol, I would definitely ask the manager if he'd let me get my bundle before I went home. I mean hell dude I'm off the next day, I wouldn't want to be around my job. Or you could do the smart thing and not mention it and just come pick it up, that would show you're not a lazy person :p

Well, I'm not exactly sure how the whole getting fined for breaking street date thing works, but hopefully the manager will sympathize for him living 30 miles away and let him take it home the evening before.

Just keep throwing subtle hints around the entire Monday.

"Man, I can't wait to play Rock Band!"
"It sucks I have to drive 30 miles to come pick it up tomorrorow."
"Have you played Rock Band yet? Is it awesome?"
"Are we going to set up a demo for one of the instruments? I want to see the drums in action as soon as possible!"
