Past the point of pre-order. You'll have to show up at Best Buy or Walmart when its on sale before anyone else.

well your a little late so I would recommend going to a best buy that has a Midnight Location
http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat136400050001&type=category and if you dont have on in your area go 30 min earlier to any walmart, circuit city, etc. Hope that helps

The game is in extremely high demand. Most of the people on these boards put pre-orders in quite awhile ago. The vast majority of small game stores are only selling pre-orders, and won't have any actual copies for "regular" sale. So don't look for the game at places like EB games, GameStop, etc., since they will only be selling to those people who pre-ordered weeks ago.

Online sales are all pre-order sales for the most part as well, and as such are mostly gone now. I do not believe there are any actual pre-orders being taken online anymore. Any sales being done now online are "back order" sales, and probably won't be filled until their first rush of pre-orders are filled. As an example, Amazon.com has an entire tier of sales going out, and a second tier of back-orders then waiting to be filled, apparently.

I believe your only option is to physically go to the "big box" stores on opening sale day -- Tuesday. However, some stores will be opening early (more on that below).

Large stores, like Target, Wal-Mart, or Best Buy, will have more stock room available, and will be releasing the game for sale on Tuesday. Because of their large physical size, they can carry more of the game, and they depend on foot-traffic to move their copies of the game. Instead of pre-orders, they prefer customers to actually come into the store, to make their purchase (and hopefully buy more stuff at the same time).

Demand at these big-box stores will still be fairly high, as they are the only source to pick up the game if you haven't pre-ordered by now.

Some stores (notably a lot of Best Buys) will be opening their doors at 12:01 of that Tuesday (or, if you prefer, Monday at Midnight) to sell the game as early as legally possible. People will be lining up to be picking up those copies.

Check the store's policy. Each *specific* store varies. One Best Buy will have a Midnight Sale, and another won't.

If you go to a Best Buy that had a Midnight Sale the next morning, and are trying to purchase the more popular Xbox 360 bundle, you probably won't have much luck finding it. Thus, make sure to go to your local store at whatever the appropriate *opening* time is (midnight, or morning, whichever it happens to be for that store).

As to how early you need to get to the store to "beat the lines", I have no real idea. It will vary depending upon the number of people who want the game at that particular store, and at that opening time. If a store only has twenty copies in stock, then a short line of twenty people is fairly easy to fill up, so getting there half an hour before opening won't do you any good.

Your best bet is to actually ask the store how many copies they'll have for sale, when you ask them what time they will be opening in order to sell them. Don't simply ask them what time they open on Tuesday, but instead ask them what time they will be selling Rock Band, and if they are opening early to have a special event in order to sell this game.

This late in the game, I'd say that lining up a little extra early doesn't really hurt. I would personally rather line up an hour earlier than everybody else, and look like a complete goof standing in line for 3 hours when everybody else shows up an hour later than I did, than come late to the party and miss out on the game completely.

Best of luck finding your copy.
