Remember a few months ago when they announced the entire Who's Next Album would be made available at launch, Well now this the launch a few days away and all this downloadable content announced, Who's Next isn't on the list. Is it still going to be available at launch?

They never said it would be available at launch, they just said it will be the first full-album download. And they're not putting it up until next year.

As taken from an interview with harmonix,

How many songs will there be? "We're announcing that as we go. Can't really say. Um, over 40?" And that's with more to come via download. "So, a ton. It's a decent value." All of 'Who's Next' will be available at launch, but there will be many more songs to download after that.

Taken from IGN:

At E3 2007 in July, Harmonix and MTV announced Rock Band will have full albums available for download after the game launches, staring with Who's Next by The Who. It's still planned as the first full album for DLC, but that won't happen in '07.

It was supposed to be buyable at launch. But plans change.

Simmer down. They have to transcribe a whole album to RB note scripts, so it's probably just taking longer than expected. It's not like it's been cancelled or anything.

yeah it seems like the albums are going to be coming the first thing of next year. They have a good line up now of dlc throughout 2007.

This sounds like a candidate for the Gamespy announcment. Announce Album pricing, Who's Next, the Metallica Album and maybe Nirvana Nevermind to cover three generations of music. One last big headline Monday to keep the buzz going and generate last minute hype/hysteria.

I thought Harmonix confirmed Nevermind in an interview...

Edit:

Dan Teasdale: At the start of the project, we created our dream list of bands. We had a list of about 2000 or 3000 songs that we whittled down into a list of 200 or 300 songs, and then we went out and tried to get all of those songs. We had an amazing response, and all of the labels were really, really responsive as to some of the bands that we could get. We were able to get The Who, which we never were able to get before, we were able to get the whole of "Nevermind" from Nirvana, which was way beyond our expectations and is incredibly awesome. In terms of the thought process behind it, we wanted to get the whole spectrum of rock, from the 1960s to today, essentially.

There's going to be so much to do at launch with DLC already... I for one will not be broken up if they take their time about it.

Yeah but still if it isn't until 2008.... That's like waiting for the game to come out all over again(in a way at least).
