ok so when watching videos on youtube of the gameplay when the outsides of the fret board turn yellow is that what is called overdrive? the equal of star power? and do you lift the guitar to activate it or what? and also when the fret board turns blue you dont have to strum right? you can just tap

I don't know how you activate it, but yes it is overdrive, RB's version of star power. I think activation is the same as the GH's. Yes, you can tap during the blue sections, if you use the solo buttons.

Activation for guitar and bass is the same as GH's; activation for drums is done by playing a freeform drum fill in a designated section and hitting the crash cymbal (green pad) at the end; activation for vocals is done by singing anything in a freeform section (designated by a yellow pattern appearing where the note tubes usually are.)
