Seeing as no-one else will answer you properly, yes the rest of the band will be there on stage in single player and 2-player. Go play Guitar Hero if you want to see what that looks like.
And, yes, I do realise the singer is missing from 2 player in GH, but I reckon they will fix that for Rock Band, I think it was just a performance issue rather than an intended feature.
