Anytime I try to play one of the downloaded songs I recieve an error "The song data you were accessing has become unavailable, and the game cannot proceed without it. Your games session has restarted."

This is particularly troubling when I'm 3 songs into a mystery set list and it crashes and I loose all my progress.

It makes the game frustrating because I cannot finish most gigs/venues without it restarting the session;thus, I cannot unlock newer songs and gigs.

Is There a fix for this?

If not is there a way to "disable" the downloaded songs inside of RB2 won't put them into any set lists?

I'm not happy with this option but one way I thought to possibly disable the downloaded songs would be to use the XBOX 360 dashboard "system" properites to view the contents of the hard drive. From there I could goto games->RB1 and delete the "downloaded content" songs. This would take a while as I have about 80 of them. If I do that can i redownload them for free later? Will I have to then pay the $5 export fee again?

I had the same problem. But I noticed I wasn't connected to Xbox Live.

Make sure you are and then you should be good to go. That's how it worked for me.

If thats true then this sucks, i downloaded songs at a friends house, because i can't get on live at mine (no broadband in my town).

You can also try deleting the file called "Downloaded Song Data", which occasionally becomes corrupted and causes this issue. The game will rebuild this file when you start it next.

Yeah that was a major problem for me. Once I delted the Download song date from the 360 games/Rock band memory and downloaded a new one it's worked perfectly.

The file you want to delete is very small its kb not mb. Something like 204kb. Go into your system blade, games, Rock band, and find the download song data. Delete it. When Rock band fires up in your console it will ask you if you want to create a new one. Do it.

Problem solved.

If it happens again in the future just repeat.

Now I've noticed RB2 creates one of these as well, so you might have to try 1 or both of them to see which one is giving your game fits.
