If they do have one, then most likely so. Because so far, no indication has been shown that they plan to make the announcement...

If they are waiting until tomorrow it better be quite an announcement if they want anyone to pay attention considering we'll all be so hyped up about getting the game in a few hours.

Dont know how many times I've said this, but I would assume their going to make the announcement in their review........ which i would guess is being put up tommorow.

Yeesh, they don't get to control the content of this one, it's information doled out by HMX for winning the Battle of the Bands. So, if it sucks, blame HMX.
Now, if their review is as sloppily written and planned out as IGN's, then you can blame Gamespy :)
Seriously, hopefully it comes out before 6 PM EST tomorrow. I'll be in class until 6 PM with internet access, but after that I'm taking my DS and getting in line at Best Buy to buy the game.

That's what the Gamespy announcement is. They get to announce the big announcement because they won. I'm betting that they'll either announce it tomorrow or the whole DLC pricing/schedule/metallica tracks article from last week on Gamespot was intended for Gamespy but Gamespot decided to be poor losers and post it first.

My wishful thinking is that they will announce that the Band World Tour patch for online play will up for launch. Very wishful thinking. Other than that, it sounds like it will be info about DLC albums.

I am not quite sure what they could announce to blow us away. It would have to be something huge in order for anyone to really care about the announcement.
Maybe an announcement regarding the release of the authoring tools A Rig talked about (and already mentioned by Mr-Blonde in this thread) so users can make their own charts and such for their own bands.
Maybe a huge artist announcement? Led Zep, AC/DC, Beatles, etc... I don't think an announcement like this would be too likely though.
An announcement of an Online BWT patch wouldnt be too big of a deal either.
I am assuming that the announcement would have to be something big if HMX themselves are not even going to announce it.

I'm guessing its going to be an AC/DC album for DLC. Why? I don't know.
On a side note, when announcing the DLC prices, they mentioned that some will eventually cost $2.99. To me this means 1 of 2 things.
Either they are paying more for huge names (Beatles, Zeppelin, etc), but I don't think thats true, because the bands don't really care about money enough to the point where it has to be a full dollar more.
The other option is that its more expensive because they are long songs, as in 10 minutes or longer. Things like In A Gadda Da Vida, or some of the Allman Brothers' jam-type songs.

It could also be a hardware announcement. Not very likely, but possibly the street dates for the individual instruments, or a wireless mic.
How about a 3-year warrantee on all Rock Band peripherals?

Did you just say that the bands don't care about money? That might be the funniest thing I have ever read online. :D :D :D :D

Ok genius, here's what I meant. The bands that people are thinking would demand a $2.99 price per song are the big names, like Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Beatles, AC/DC. Maybe a few others.
Nobody in any of those bands is hurting for money. They're not going to license their songs because they need to finance a new Ferrari. Their songs are difficult to license not because they are demanding too much money, but because they have other reasons for not wanting their music used in things (movies, tv shows, commercials, games, etc), be it pride, ego, or whatever. A bigger pile of money isn't going to change their mind, because at this point in their lives, that's not very meaningful to them. They're doing just fine. I think Rigopolus mentioned this in an interview, when asked about Zeppelin and other bands that are hard to get for DLC.
Summary: It's not an issue of money.

No need to be snarky. But I retort, have you ever heard of a musician saying I have too much money??? For the right price, anything is for sale.

I thought the Metallic and other packs and dlc pricing was their announcement. That is where I read it first.

It wasn't meant to be snarky. But to answer your question, I know what you're saying, but in some cases, I think it just doesn't apply. Zeppelin has turned down many an offer, I'm sure, for their music. If a million wasn't enough, and two million wasn't enough, how about 3, 4, 5, 6? When is it finally enough? I'd say never, because I still think with some of these people, it's really just not about the money. They have this set idea in their mind of what music is, and what it's meant to be. For them, maybe that means you buy an album, and you listen to it. It's not meant to pitch products, or sell video games, and I don't think throwing money at such people will make them change their mind about that kind of thing, especially if they've felt this way for so long.

I know what you mean. Maybe I'm just too old and cynical to believe in the artist's love of his art because its art. Especially with so many older artists seeing the benefits from participating in this new medium. If it is a chance to sell more of their art through exposing younger individuals to their music, I am not sure I see the downside. Plus, plenty of these groups are selling rights to their music in other areas (Zep to Mercedes, for instance). My bet is that it won't be long before everyone caves (with the exception of the Beatles since they haven't even caved to downloadable music as far as I know). In the end I bet on pragmatism to win out in almost every case.
