View Full Version : Band World Tour, a couple of questions I haven't seen answered

1. So, you unlock stuff and go through Band World Tour, and it's ONLY possible to do this with more than one person right? i.e. you can't play BWT unless you've got more than one person playing at once, right?

2. Do you have to have all four people present at once to play BWT and fully unlock it? What I mean by this is, say that a drummer and guitarist went through BWT, and then later that week, a vocalist and bassist went through BWT, re-doing all of the songs to catch up to the drummer/guitarist, would the game allow this?

3. What, if any, goal is there in BWT? as in, is there a final setlist that "completes" BWT or something or?

4. Does BWT give any unlocks for songs, or could you just go through solo mode on an instrument and unlock all the songs on the game so that when you go through BWT, you can play a much larger list of songs in the setlists?

1. You could sing and play an instrument, but if not, you need at least two people.

2. No. The only person who has to be in at all times is a designated leader. Other players can jump in and out. Bu9t you do need two at a time at least

3. No. The goal is to hit 1,000,000 fans I believe.

4. Not sure

1. Yes

2. You need a minimum of 2 people. Extra band members can join in later right when you start off. One of the starter members has to be declared band leader, and their character must be playing to do the World Tour.

3. Play the songs, 5 star them, enjoy. The finale is a 8-song setlist, but that doesn't mean you have to stop playing. There's still the Endless Setlist, which takes 600 stars to unlock.

4. You could unlock all of the songs for Quick Play through solo tour, but BWT is the way more fun way to do it.

You need more than one person unless you can play two instruments at once like guitar or drums and mic

2. Do you have to have all four people present at once to play BWT and fully unlock it? You do not need more than two band members to unlock anything.

3. What, if any, goal is there in BWT? as in, is there a final setlist that "completes" BWT or something or?

There is something called the endless setlist .. name should say it all

4. Does BWT give any unlocks for songs, or could you just go through solo mode on an instrument and unlock all the songs on the game so that when you go through BWT, you can play a much larger list of songs in the setlists?

you have to unlock the songs in bwt mode seperately even if you've already done every song out ther.

also.. if you complete things on a harder difficulty, it unlocks the achievements from the easier difficulties.

Ok then, another question in regards to #2 and a new question;

You say that a starter member needs to be made, right?

So let's say I make myself the starter member. Then, does my friend, on the same xbox, have to make his own account, and then that would be his character?

Going on with this question, does the starter member have to "lock-in" his instrument? i.e. if i do drums for two sets, can i switch to guitar for the next two sets? etc.

And a brand new question;

#5: What about ranking/score stuff on the leaderboards? What I mean by this is, let's take this setup;

Say that I've got me and my friend. For one setlist, I play drums and he plays guitar on it. Then, if we go BACK to that set list, and I do vocals and he does bass, would that count the same amount of points as if we had 4 people total playing on that one set list? Or do you need 4 people to get the maximum amount of points allowed by the game, which would be much more than 2 people subbing for 2 other people as I described above?

It wasn't covered in any of the videos on it, from IGN or anyone else, and i'd like to know before I buy it, personally.

Best answer I have for you is. The main profile that is the leader, no matter what rocker you choose, must be logged on.

Any other profile can log in after that, and they can load whichever rockers they want to following that.

Again, the leader of the band your loading must have their profile loaded up first.

All indications are that once the band is created, the leader is locked in to the selected position and can't change... Much as I wish it were otherwise.

Your friend on the same Xbox would make another avatar on YOUR profile. You do this in the game, it is the basic part of creating a band.

If you pick guitar, your avatar plays guitar. You can always chose between Lead and Bass. But you have to have another avatar setup to play Drums, or Vocals. Not sure why, but that seems to be the way it is. You can either just use "Default" or actually create an avatar for that instrument.

I justs checked the Manage Data screen. You cannot take a band leader out of a band (though you can remove any other member from that menu). You get a warning when you continue BTW without the leader selected, that says you can't play the game without the leader, and does not let you continue your tour.

My advice is just let someone else step into the "leader" avatar's shoes, I am sure that person will not mind.

#5 Don't quote me on this, but it looks like your score has nothing to do with how many people you have in your band when you play. Scoring in BTW depends on two things, and the "score" that you get does not seem to be one of them.

You want to get Stars and Fans. You need both to unlock bigger gigs and venues. The higher the difficulty setting, the more Fans you get. And of course the better you play the more Stars you get.

Only Fans and Stars is tracked, not the score you get on a song in BTW.

Hope that helps.

Oh, so stars and fans is only tracked then? I assume that Solo modes are the ones that track scores then, right? That's awesome :D

Sucks about not being able to switch the leader though :/ One last question;

Say you have 2 members for BWT. Say that we plow through 10 expert songs and get 5/6 stars on all of them.

Now, if the same results were done with 4 band members instead of 2, would they get more stars or more fans at all than the 2 member band?

I'm not sure about the fans part but the stars are like in guitar hero. You can go play a song on easy, get 100%, and get the gold stars. Then after that you can go on Expert and get say, 82% on a song and end up getting 3 stars. The star rating is judged on your performance (basically the percentage of notes you hit).

Correct, Solo Tour has Stars and Score.

You only get 5 stars, just like in GH.

Say you complete the song with all 5 Stars on Easy, you get a black check mark next to the gig. If you complete it on Medium, you get a Bronze check mark. Silver and Gold for Hard and Expert, of course. The harder difficulty gets you more fans.

It does not matter for the stars/fans if you have only 2 or all 4 members. But you sure want it to, it seems :p

Oh no, it's just that most of the time, only I and my best friend will be able to play Guitar/Drums; I was just hoping that it wouldn't be skewed against us on rankings/unlocking stuff on the leaderboards because we don't have a full 4 people to play with us.

(truth be told, we have many people who could play with us, but only on medium or so; me and my friend play expert, so that would kind of be pointless to begin with just for unlocking stuff, although for having fun it's fine.)

The reason I said 6 stars is because there is a ranking above 5 stars; 5 gold stars, which i guess is considered 6 stars.

How does the difficulty work on BWT? Does every player have to play the same difficulty, if not how does it decide what difficulty you are playing? Can you change difficulty mid BWT, if so just other members or can the band leader change thier difficulty too?

Meancode
11-18-2007, 08:37 PM
Well I was just kidding, but you won't be penalized.

Gutar Hero III has gold stars for 100% a song. Rock Band does not. I have 100% many songs in Rock Band, and its just a five star, which a really high score of course.

Difficulty in BWT works just like co-op in GH3. You all chose your own difficulty setting. Whoever choses the lowest setting determines how you are scored. Meaning if the singer picks Medium and Drums, Guitar, and Bass pick Hard, you will be scored under Medium. This means you get a Bronze check mark next to the gig, and you are capped at the most possible fans for the Medium level.

During BWT you will get a message telling you have reached the limit of fans attainable unless you move to a higher difficulty.

Well, Rock Band definitely gives out 5 Gold Stars for something; there's been numerous pictures of it and people reporting it on thier games.

Don't ask me; i've seen numerous pictures of it all over the place.

Also, a blog from DanT (I can link if needed) apparently says that Band World Tour mode DOES track score, and does NOT track stars, it only tracks fans and score; anyone know FOR SURE on this, since apparently the last posts were incorrect information?

Adding into that, the scores on there then would indicate that the more band members you have, the more score you can get per song, meaning that bands with 4 members over 3 or 2 can theoretically always get more points than the other two bands for ranking, right?

On the overworld map two things are shown at the upper right under your band's name. One is a Fans icon, and one is a Stars icon.

Of course when you play a song you gain a score which translates to the Stars, and is also representative of the difficulty setting you are on (a higher difficulty will net you a higher score, as well as more Fans).

When I get home I will snap a pic.

those are the leaderboards. They clearly only show score and fans; and nothing about stars.

Yes well the *leaderboard* does show your score. You did not say that.

You must have Stars to unlock venues, and progress in the game. You need 600 I think to unlock the Endless Setlist, for example.

What about playing the same "gig" repeatedly? Say there's a 3 song list, or even a single song...

...if you tank on it and lose fans, can you play it again to gain fans back?

...if you do well on it and gain fans and cash, can you play it again to gain MORE fans and MORE cash? (But, obviously, not more stars unless you got more on your second play. Or can you LOSE stars..?)

Meancode

I don't think you can lose stars. But you can replay a gig on a higher difficulty to gain more fans.

Gold stars are achievable. I have a song on the solo tour with gold stars after a 100% expert run.
