I haven't played the game yet, and i cant be more excited, but its depressing me to see that people don't like the guitar. Is is because people who don't like it are talking more and people who do are fine just being happy? Reply if you LIKE the guitar so i can feel hopeful for 2 more days until i actually get it.

I liked it when I got to mess with it. I liked the buttons being closer together (makes it easier to slide). I also liked the silent strum bar (when I play GH iyou can hear the clacking all over the house).

Bro, I've only played the guitar at Best Buy, but I've used it 4 times now. I absolutely love it. The strum bar is a little weird, but nothing you can't get used to, or nothing that can't be fixed.

I think it is horrible but whatever...I don't really care. I'll just use GH guitars with it. I still love the game.

i played at best buy and loved it as well
the buttons and strum bar take some getting used to but they are awesome nonetheless
the solo buttons are fricken hard to use, i only used them on the freeform things at the end of the song
the only thing that is bad is the flimsyness of the guitar but thats nothing big
i just hope the rumors are wrong about it...

I loved everything except the strum bar, although I'm sure that will just take a little getting used to.

I don't really have any complaints with it. I really look forward to having some extended time with it on Tuesday night on solo mode.

I loved the guitar at my best buy demo station and the 2 days in a roe I went it still performed flawlessly but then a week later when I returned it was broken in the same fashion as has been mentioned.

Loved it. Not a huge adjustment for me, but its look and feel just seem right. The strum bar has been the big sticking point for many people, but I actually prefer it; for whatever reason, it feels a bit more like actual strumming.
The buttons on the neck are a change; they're much more clicky, and run the entire width of the neck. It took half a song to get oriented, but then everything felt solid. The solo frets are both fun and functional.
The whammy bar sometimes gets caught on the effects switch. This was a problem I ran into regularly; I'm sure with a bit of adjustment, it won't catch as often.
Now, if only the guitars stopped breaking after 3 hours of gameplay ...

I liked the way it felt, being bigger than the GH ones. Whammy bar is a little different to use though, maybe just the demo guitar I had.

Honestly the guitar could be a complete piece of dung and the game would still be amazing. (fortunately it's not :D)

Agreed, even though mine isn't working right for now, the thing looks and feels just right as someone else said. Accomplishing slides on it is far easier than the other guitars. It's not too light, and not too heavy.. I'm very happy with it.

The only reasons anyone wouldn't like it is because either they're not used to it or the demo unit is broken.

I only used it on one song at BB because there was a line of people waiting, but here are my two opinions:
The strum bar is awesome, it actually feels like you're plucking a string, albeit a really fat string.
The buttons are annoying, but I think I will get used to them. I think the center to center distance on them is the same, but the buttons themselves are wider and actually touch(there is no space between them). I didn't realize it before, but apparently I use the spaces between the buttons for something while playing GH, because without the spaces I was screwing up a lot. I kept getting out of position, and then pressing multiple buttons at once when I didn't mean to. However, the guitar is bigger and just seems less like a toy than the GH ones, though it is still obviously not up to real-instrument quality.
Bottom line, I'm definitely looking forward to the new guitar...
but not as much as I'm looking forward to the drums! (the BB I was at didn't have them set up)

Loved the fret buttons.
Loved the strum bar.
Loved the size.
Loved the solo buttons.
Loved the 5-way switch and whammy.
Loved the look.
Hated that it's not in my house yet.

I've played several of the guitars, and I love it. I know that the older ones had the strumbar issues, but the new retail versions that I have played are awesome. I won't be going back to my Gibson controllers.

I haven't played GH in a few days (thanks to Mario Galaxy and the new Resident Evil) but I checked out the RockBand demo at WalMart and theres either something wrong with the guitar or in those few days my skill level went from hard/expert to zero. I couldn't hit any notes at all I was constantly failing easy songs.
I can't quite pinpoint what it is; the buttons, the strumbar, I'm not sure or maybe it was simply broken. I'll give it another shot when I have it at home. The drums were excellent though, and thankfully I have two Xplorers.

The guitar feels really smooth and nice to play. It's responsive and others are right about how much better it is to slide on.
The only thing that I'm reconciling myself on is the placement/feel of the whammy bar. It's oriented differently than on the SG/LP and it's a lot lighter to the touch. I'm a chronic whammyist and haven't had enough time to adjust to how the bar works on RB.

my guess audio visual lag, it can be really bad sometimes
but i personaly havnt tried it out but its the same guitar that i play so it could be a piece of crap and i will like it, dont like how there are no gaps inbetween the buttons but i will get over that fast

The only thing I didn't like about the guitar was the fact that it was waaayy too flimsy. Felt very weak. But I'm still gonna like it anyways.

I played the PS2 version of the GH3 guitar tonight and I have to say, I absolutley hated it... I've only used the RB Strat a few times, but I love the way it feels, I love the fret buttons and the strum bar MUCH better than the GH3 guitars I've played. :)

The RB Strat I played with at Best Buy was utterly terrible. The strum bar wouldn't even register strums half the time, and I ended up failing because of it. BUT...I'm hoping it's just that that particular guitar was broken. And assuming that, my only complaint is that it feels a bit flimsy compared to the GH3 Les Paul I've gotten used to. (Then again, so do the SGs.) The strum bar is also a tad weird, but I'm sure that's just a matter of getting used to it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the Strat kicks @**! Everything about it is sooo much better than the Xplorers and SGs.
At my Best Buy, the Strat has always worked perfectly. No problems at all!

Who here actually knew the guitars were pre-production models before passing judgement!

. . .Seriously the ONLY complaints I ever see on the guitar is it was broken, or it's flimsy. Come on.. I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of all the, "I'm worried about the guitar braking" Threads that just all of a sudden shown up.

I replied earlier in the thread but since I got the game today I would like to update what I think after spending time with a final Strat.
I love it. I could never go back to the GH guitars. I love how it never clicks when I strum and the buttons feel so good now that they click and its much easier to slide in my opinion since there is no space in between buttons. The final model also doesn't seem to be as flimsy as the demo units and it seems like a very solid and well made product. The back button is in a perfect location to easily hit it with your pinky and the whammy bar feels good and its nice that its so long. I'd give it a 9.5/10.

As a bassist I think the RB guitar's strum bar has the best "pluck" feel feel of anything I've played. On my first try I did ~95% of Suffegate City on Bass/Expert just finger plucking like I would my real bass. Whereas on any of the Guitar Hero guitars I can't pluck anything

I like it I played it at Walmart I know the Walmart one you can play strumbar I had a hard time with it but I'm worried because when I get it I know I can play it with out the Strumbar because they have mentioned it.

I've managed to five-star every song in all guitar hero games on expert, but when I stopped by my local best buy Rock Band demo station, I failed hard mode songs after less than 30 seconds. I'm hoping it's just the abuse on the guitar.

I've played one strat that registered one strums as two and i failed miserably, HOWEVER!!! Today I played a working start at Best Buy and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it just my guitar or is the d-pad up and down on the Strat reversed from the convention used for the GH guitars?

i absolutely adore the guitar, inc the strum, took a song to get used to but i prefer it now, and the buttons, and the size, and the shape, didnt have any problems with it what so ever the entire time we were playing, and neither did anyone else, cant wait to get mine in erm, spring >:( unless ea is nice and sends me a copy early, GO ON EA, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE ME THE GAME EARLY

The silent strum bar is 100% AWFUL. I consistently miss during any extended run of notes, the thing is mushy as hell and gives no feedback. I don't know if mine is broken or if it's just a misdesigned piece of junk. Yeah the GH guitars are noisy but at least you can play them!
I've beaten every GH game on hard at least and I can't even play consistently on medium using the RB guitar. Is it really not supposed to click at all, or is mine just broken? I guess I need to see how other RB guitars are and find out if I got a bad one. Really I hope I do have a broken one, because if mine works right then the RB guitar is a complete disaster

The RB guitar is far and away my favorite guitar ever. The frets rule, and the strum bar (assuming it holds up, which so far it definatley has) is fantastic. No clicking really makes me listen to the SONG and the notes, not the loud guitar.

I LOVE it! No click is the best change they could of made. It has a much more realistic feel.

Two separate factors: controller design and gameplay.
The controller itself is certainly different than what most of us are accustomed to with GH (or even GF). I've read many reviews that describe it as more "toy-like" than the GH iterations. I feel that it feels FAR more realistic with its sleeker profile and thinner neck. The triggers feel loose and not as padded with the RB guitar and the strum bar is a bit hard to get used to but it adds some dramatics for those who were expecting it to be too easy - which segueways into my next point.
Almost every pre-release review stated that the guitar patterns were much simpler than GH. I must say that I was happily surprised to see some challenging passages. AND the challenging passages were presented with the music - a strict contrast to the GHIII flailing additives which granted, gave me something to do for a week, but did not add to the dramatic effect of the game. Also, the hammer-on notes are much easier to decrypt than the squint-inducing circle-deficient nipples in GH. That being said, I am VERY PLEASED with the guitar in Rock Band and will continue praising it henceforth.
Also, the "solo" buttons are a riot.

My wife and I are solid converts now!
I wish it was a little more resilient, sure. But *man* is the thing a joy to play! The design is *so* much better, the strum bar is fantastic, I'm hitting things with far more accuracy, it feels much more like playing my real guitars, and it is just plain FUN!
If you are a holdout because you've trained yourself on old-fashioned GH controllers, do try to retrain your thinking, 'cause these new guitars are simply wonderful!
I grant you that they do feel a little flimsy, and they do creak and bend a tad if you strain them. Sure, someday I wouldn't mind a large controller with such a long neck being made out of some significantly stronger material (dare I hope for a wooden controller someday?!) but until then, I have got to say that the DESIGN move is perfect!
If they can work out the breakage issues (which is a manufacturing problem, not necessarily a design problem -- my Q.A./Engineer wife drills that stuff into my head!) then I can't see why more people won't be flocking to the newly designed guitar controllers!
Wow ... just ... Wow!

Loved it...After about 30 seconds it just felt really natural...
exactly, it's really touch sensitive (360 strat) and I can down strum guitar and finger pick upstrum the bass, it's great as far as i'm concerned.
def took a little bit of getting used to from the clickity clack GH ones, but if you're comfortable w/those use them (if compatible, mine is)

i love the new guitar and the only issue i have with it is the complete silence of it but thats also one of the reasons i like it. ya it does kind of mess me up in the long strum passages but thats becuase with the gh guitars i would listen to the clack to determin if im in rythem but now i actualy have to listen to the music SHOCKING!!!
but overall i really feel like im holding a guitar and not a giant hunk of plastic. i have a real strat and i will say the fake one does one hell of a job simulating the feel if it

The guitar looks nice, but it sucks to use. I miss notes that I don't miss with the Xplorer. Plus, right now the downstrum isn't working, but hopefully the fix posted on the forums here will rectify that.

I really like the silent strum bar. But why are the fret buttons so damn loud now?
That's pretty minor, though. Other than that, I like it a lot, especially the effects.
I really like the size.

I actually find it amusing... I think to myself

On a serious note, they're actually quiter than the click on the GH controller. Personally... Well I think everyone would appreciate a GH controller style strum, just quiet... If they could do that it would be the best strum bar ever.
