View Full Version : Stand-in Guitarist not showing up

My wife and I play a two member band, me on Bass and her on Vocals. We made two extra characters on her profile to use as stand-ins for Guitar and Drums. The drummer shows up but the guitarist is a randomly picked NPC.

I noticed that in the band line-up, my character has the 'guitar' icon next to it. In the Stand-in section our stand-in guitarist also has the 'guitar' icon and I have my character as the stand-in bassist so it has the 'bass' icon in the Stand-in section. I have a feeling the game considers my character as the guitarist so the stand-in is not used, even if I play bass in a song.

Is there any way to set my character as the regular bassist in the Roster so when playing a set our stand-in guitarist shows up?

I had an issue like this and fixed it by just setting them as replacements again.

Perhaps the characters being on a different profile is causing the issue?

here I thought I was imaging things when the character I picked as Stand-In Guitar wasn't playing Guitar(I was on Bass). Bakkster how'd you fix yours?

I don't think the profiles should matter, since our drummer shows up and the drummer is on my wife's profile. I may re-create the guitarist on my profile just to give that a shot. Another thing I tried was removing my character and trying add him as a "bassist" to the roster but there was no way to change between the guitar/bass icon.

I went into band info -> roster, and selected substitutes. I then selected guitarist and picked the same character again to be the substitute. I remember the icon changing color, but it then worked for me again.

There are a couple of problems.

1) The game doesn't see "Bassist versus Lead" it sees "Guitar slot 1 versus Guitar slot 2". If you assign your stand-in to the top guitar slot and play using the first guitar controller then the stand-in won't show up and a random computer character will take Guitar Slot 2. This is easily fixed by assigning the character to the bottom Guitar Slot (#2) when you're playing with the first guitar peripheral (where you show up on the left at the band creation screen).

2) The game won't let the same character show up twice. So if you have a character as stand-in for Guitar Slot #2 and select that character to play in Guitar Slot #1, then a random character will show up in Slot #2 instead.

Likewise, if you have your stand-in configured for Slot #2 and you play in Guitar Slot #1, the stand-in will play Bass or Lead (whichever you don't pick to play, they'll sub in as).

That makes sense, I'll give that a shot and see how it works. I just wish they didn't use the Bass/Guitar icon's in the Stand-In screen to avoid this confusion.

I am not following (yes I am rather noobish). Sometimes I need things really painted out for me. Are you saying the how do we assign the characters to specific slots? I don't see this.

This is on Wii btw.

Never mind. I found a workaround explanation somewhere else that made more sense to me. Odd that they developed the game this way, but at least there is a way to get it done.

Never mind. >_> Problem solved, sort of. In order to get a character to stand-in for lead guitar when you want to play bass, you have to first pick your desired bass character, then go to the roster and set your desired guitarist to stand-in for bass. And then when you pick bass at the song menu later on, for some reason the game will switch your stand-in from bass to lead.

Makes no sense to me, but at least it works.
