I have been having trouble with my current set cutting out...quite frequently (as a lot of people have). It seems i'll hit a note and it will just cut my streak, but I find at the end of the song, I'm still getting 100%, so it's counting the beat, but just cutting off, or hitting multiple pads sometimes. I'm more than happy to wait for a new set so long as I don't have to pay, I'm patient, I'm glad HMX does this for us, but is the new set going to work any better? Has HMX fixed the problem already? What are the odds the new set will do the same thing?

Yes the Rock Band drum kits are replaced free of charge....until October 1, 2008. After that, I think it's back to the original 60 Day Warranty.
Unfortunately with RMA kits, It really is a crap-shoot. Sometimes you get a good set, sometimes you don't. I know someone on their fifth guitar and third drum kit. People here will tell you that exact same thing. It really is hit-and-miss.
but the beauty of it is that if the kit you receive BACK craps out on you before 60 days pass, they'll send you a new kit in the box already and you wont have to wait or pay for the express shipping.
so for the love of pudding, RMA your kit before the warranty is up. Play the safe card and just send it away. Worst case scenario is that you keep playing this send and receive game until you get a working one. :/

You could also just return it to the store you bought it from if it hasn't been too long.

some stores request the warranty only...unless it's been like a month or so. it's a pretty bad policy when the actual store is involved. he'd be better off with the option that guarantees results for free (while it's still effect) instead of running to Best Buy where all the bad batches are :/
edit: plus the box tells you not to take it back to the store if something breaks. LOL

Ya but what's on the box doesn't matter, anyone has the right to return it to the store if it's defective. And most people don't get a working set back from RMA anyways so what's the difference?

Exactly. So many people think that just b/c it says not to return it to the retailer on/in the box, they can't do it, even when they open the box and take out an already defective drum set...it's silly.
