The good news is that I get to go over to my Gamestop tomorrow and pick up my pre-order for Rock band, like all the rest of you. The bad news is that it is going straight into hiding in my basement until Xmas morning. I am buying it for my kids as much as myself, so I will have it, but I can't open it for another month.

The last thing I want or need is to see how much the rest of you are enjoying yours tomorrow, while I have to wait!!!!!! :p  :)

Everyone else enjoy, I'll catch up with you in a month.

I thought about it, but then I'd have to carefully re-wrap and re-package everything. They're too savvy. They'll know if I've already unpacked it before they unwrap it Xmas morning.

Sounds like a perfect time to teach them that life is not always fair. "Daddy got to play it because daddy bought it, whereas you guys had to wait until Xmas! Hahaha!":D

I would at least "test" it for a while....you know, to make sure it works and all...

I think a full month of solid testing is required, you know to make sure it will last. Then when they open it on Christmas morning act like you've never played it, say "Do you mind if I try the drums on Tom Sawyer?" and get 5 stars on expert on your first try (well in their minds anyway). Then casually hand them back the sticks and say "What's so hard about that?"

I don't even know why I'm waiting, either. My wife and I are already getting them enough other stuff for Xmas. Somehow, though, after one month of Rock Band hysteria building on TV, in the papers, and by word of mouth, it will be worth it when they unwrap it. The more hype and the more hype about how it is hard to find, the bigger the payoff on Xmas morning, I guess.

You have a basement to play in? You're so lucky!! A basement is the best place to rock out. I'm so looking forward to the vocals, but ironically that's what I'll be doing least because of the horrible place that I live in.

Just play it in the basement, then on Christmas morning, have it all set up for them in the family room...that way, you look cooler for saving them the work of opening the box and setting it up and you might get to sleep in while they play. If they ask why it looks used...tell them Santa had to test it out, whether they believe in Santa or not. :)

Summary: Make a "Stocking Stuffer"...so to speak.

Wow, that might be the best suggestion, yet. That could actually work. I could just have it under a sheet and I could "unveil" it all set up in front of the TV. I like that idea, a lot. I honestly don't know if I have the will power to wait until Xmas.

all i know is, when i was a kid, if i came down to a fully assembled, ready-to-go rock band, i'd have a dam fine xmas

At this point, I wouldn't probably even look at the other presents! Let's play some Rock Band!

Making the kids wait for Xmas means they play it at their friends' houses and get bored of it before Xmas. Happened to a friend with their son and another game. He's already beaten it, and yet they have it waiting for him for Xmas day. Nice. Aren't you glad you waited?
