View Full Version : Lefty Mode breaks cymbal input

I know this is already mentioned elsewhere but it always seems muddled with other issues, I just want to break it out clearly.

In 'Lefty' mode, the mapping of cymbals is broken in freestyle mode and drum fills.

I'm using the Ion kit, and in lefty mode

yellow pad = yellow cymbal = tom
blue pad = blue cymbal = hi-hat

I hope this is something that will be addressed in a patch. Soon.

(Mention of lefty and cymbals seems to nomally get bogged down in discussion of crash cymbal issues. I just wouldn't want questions about "how does the green cymbal port behave in lefty?" to get in the way of this which is obvious a BUG)

This is pretty serious for lefties who are still on the line on whether to buy the RB2 kit + cymbals or the ION kit.

I'm in that camp. If this is recognized as a bug I'm still interested. My friend and I have been waffling on getting two ION kits for a while now. But with the most important new feature stripped out for me there's no way I'd drop the money.

I'm also assuming this is going to affect the cymbal add-on for the RB2 kits. That's not an unreasonable assumption given it seems to be a software thing, right?

I would feel a lot better about this moving ahead if I knew whether it was a bug or an intentional removal of the feature for lefty players.

You could always leave your game set to righty mode, but reposition the pads so they suit lefty play (like mirror the pad locations, so red is on the right and green is on the left).

Of course, that would make reading the charts very confusing... but it's a decent temporary fix for the freestyle mode, until Harmonix fixes it properly.

Thatīs a good idea, but they HAVE TO fix this thing, because we paid 300$ for a Premiun Peripherial.

Harmonix, please say something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::m ad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I am now at a point of total frustration with HMX. I get it that things like this happen. I have total confidence that they will be able to resolve the issue. I just can not get over the fact that the lefty mode problems are in just about every thread on these forums, and HMX has not responded at all. I can not figure out why?

Just an FYI. HMXHenry responded in another thread. Below is the response. At least we now know they are looking into it.

Quote:
Unfortunately we're not always able to immediately respond to every thread on the forums. Just because we're quiet sometimes that doesn't mean that we're ignoring you. I am aware of the initial thread about the lefty flip issue with the ION kit, and don't really see the need for a second one.

I've passed the video and feedback from the thread along to the appropriate parties, and if I have more information about the issue I'll be sure to pass it along to the forums immediately.

Beyond that, deliberately spamming the forums with multiple threads and self bumping are ban worthy offenses. Please sit tight, and we'll respond as soon as we're able to.

Don't get me wrong, the response is appreciated. However, the excuse about not being able to respond "immediately" simply doesn't hold water. The first lefty thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71781) was started 8/17/08 - nearly two months ago, never to receive a response from HMX. Since then, several other lefty threads (not just the ION one) have appeared here, again with no response from HMX.

So go ahead and ban me if you think I'm unreasonable for thinking that two months of silence is the same as being ignored. Yes, HMX, it may be annoying if we have to bump threads to get your attention, but please don't hide behind BS excuses.
