As simple as it sounds.

Honestly, I'd pick The Voyage (Cygnus X-1; Book 1). It's their second best one instrumentally, and that ending just gives me chills.

Feel free to explain why you picked your choice...

My choice would be The Fountain of Lamneth. I love the other ones but this holds to be my favorite. The acoustic guitar beginning and distorted power chords kicks ass. Panacea is also an sweet melody that makes this song win by itself.

(Also, if anyone cares to know why. My power went out on Sunday and came back last night).

Damn, tough choice. I'd probably go with Natural Science. I really love the more proggy ones, but NS has the best feel and is ultimately the most rewarding. Ask me later today and I might say something different though.
Cygnus X-1 does have one of my favorite Lifeson solos though. You play that for the average person and they think it sounds like crap, one person actually told me it sounds like 'he's strangling his guitar.' I tried to explain to them that that was the goddamn point, that it reflected getting sucked into a blackhole, but of course no one cares about solos that actually add anything to the song other than a ton of fast notes.

La Villa Strangiato. It's probably their most energetic song live.

i'm surprised the bottom two didn't get picked. i actually expected "the camera eye" to win.

Xanadu with Natural Science a close second. By-Tor and Necromancer are also up there.

Hell, they're all great!

I had to go with By-Tor and the Snow Dog. There's just something about it that puts a smile on my face every time. And it kicks ass.

I almost went with The Necromancer, but the third part about Prince By-Tor (with the chords later used on "Living After Midnight" - everybody seems to use that same progression!) never quite matched the quality of the rest of the song.

Too bad there are no votes for Jacob's Ladder though. That song freakin' rules. I just don't think of it as being one of their 'epic' songs.

Yeah I love Jacob's Ladder, but I consider it one of their slightly longer short pieces rather than a long piece, if that makes sense.
More of a suite, I guess.

La Villa Strangiato, all of the instruments playing is so good and is their best instrumental. My second choice would by By-Tor, due to the awesome drum fills.

I couldn't choose between Camera Eye and Xanadu, but I picked Xanadu instead. It's close, though.

La Villa Strangiato

Awesome instrumental that flows so well.

La Villa Strangiato. It's a catchy song, and probably showcases Alex Lifeson better than any other Rush song.

i voted camera eye, probly the more down to earth, original "epic song." Also I just heard the necromancer again and it DOES sound very similair to lviing after midnight

Would you like it if I made a 20 minute Rush Thread...?

It'd be really one sided, I'll tell you that.
