View Full Version : What time are you lining up for BB Midnight or morning launch?

Just wondering what everyone thinks is a sane time to get in line for the game. It's cold out, so earlier than 10pm is not very inviting.

Anyone know how many units BB stores opening at midnight expect to have? The ad states a minimum of 16/8 360/PS3 copies for all stores.

You should be there right now.

The Best Buy I'm going to said they have 80 360 bundles in stock to sell. I'm gonna get there around 8pm and wait in my car until people start lining up. Then I'll put on my hat and jacket and freeze my ass off  to get the game I should have preordered months ago!

I hope I never get one of those. I'm a Toys R Us kid.

these should be regional. but us east coasters are experiencing a nasty cold chill, and its in the middle of the week on a day when both parents are prepped for shopping and kids are still in school.

me thinks the campout thing is just a hype beast. i wouldn't be suprised if there's some paid campers in some of the larger markets.

:p I was kidding.

Honestly if you want a serious opinion, I would just show up at 12. Not like they're going to sell out the first hour.

LOL That is funny. Apparently someone doesn't remember GH.

Wow it really sold out in the first hour? That's surprising... I wouldn't know, I was on that whole "Guitar hero is for losers because I can play a real guitar" bandwagon for a long time (about 3 months before GH2 released) Then I finally got the game (GH1) :p

Are people really going to camp out for this game? I was hoping that I could possibly walk into Best Buy at around 2 and still walk out with one (no midnight release). I don't expect it to sell out THAT fast. I'm sure it wont make it through the day, but I hope that it last a few hours at least.

I'm just going to guess by the box size it will sell that fast... I mean dude if you're in a hick town like mine, go ahead and just leave at 12. a total of 4 guys camped out at my walmart the day the PS3 was released. I went in to buy it the next day and there were still about 9 of the systems left. I didn't get one though, I was just seeing how many they actually had left. So in other words, if you live in a small town. Don't stress yourself out and just wait until around the time for launch.

It's really hard to know, because it is hard to gauge the "real-world" demand for this game. Amongst hardcore gamers, there is some reasonable demand, but it is hard to figure out how many "casual gamers" are awaiting this game with baited breath. As a small sample, though, I can tell you that 3 sets of parents on my son's hockey team have this game pre-ordered, and 1 is going to try and get it tomorrow (out of 14 families). That, to me, tells me that the demand in the general audience is there.

Ehh... I was sort of looking forward to my spur of the moment decision to wait at BB for a midnight launch. But I guess the one by me isn't doing one. I suppose I could call the tons of Wal-Marts in the area, but that would just be too much trouble for me. I'm confident my pre-order at GS is secure.....

The wal-mart I'm going to opens at 7. I'll be there at 6 and pray that I didn't drive 2 hours to see a bunch of people lined up. It's a small town so let's hope not.

I don't need to line up as I finished paying it off, but my grandma is leaving tomorrow to go to Houston for a day so I will get it when GameStop opens and take it to my moms.

Unlike almost everyone else who replied to this thread, I'll give you a straight answer. I'll be there at 7 PM for the midnight release at Best Buy. THERE.

I can't tell if you are serious or not. Are you actually saying that there have been people lined up since Saturday morning for Rock Band?

Right now, my buddy and I plan on showing up at 11pm at Best Buy. If there really is a line around the corner, then we will try to ninja the 24-hour Walmart.

i don't think i'll have that problem with the game selling out/me being at the back of the line. i don't know anyone with a ps3 other than my grandfather and my uncle and the only game ONE of them owns is GH3.

besides, this is St. Louis. Unless it's a new HALO/game console, no one is going to line up for it.

I'll just pick mine up tommorow on my lunch break. No way in hell I am standing in a line and going to bed after 1:00 a.m. to get up at 6:00 a.m. My bundle has been paind in full anyhow for some time now so they will hold it for me.

Getting too old to pull late nights like that anymore...

I called around to all of the Game Stops and EB Games in the Phoenix, AZ metro area and NONE of them have any extra copies - only those who pre-ordered will be getting this game there anytime soon.:(

As for Best Buy there is ONE location open at midnight in the entire state.:( Luckilly it's not too far away. I just called the store and confirmed that they were doing the midnight opening - they are. I also asked how many copies they will have for the PS3 - 20!

The sales associate said there wasn't a line yet and he doesn't expect one until around 10:30 - 11:00 p.m., so that's when we'll be there.

I don't know if any one else has thought of this but aren't you going to need a drummers stool to play the drums? Lucilly, my brother (a drummer) is giving me an extra he has.

I can't wait until midnight!:D

for a midnight launch.. around here.. i get there at 11. usually i have no problems pre ordered or not. but thats for games with out a huge box.. this will drastically reduced numbers due to the space it requires, in smaller stores.

i'm not bothering the midnight release. thats when the lines will be biggest of crazy gamers.. tomorrow is the not so crazy gamer day. and most likely the lines at walmarts an best buys that didnt do a midnight wont be very long. if at all. considering kids are in school and people have work.

so that said i will leave around 6 to check out the walmart.. if it doesnt have it.. i will cruise over to best buy get something to eat or something on the way.. and wait in my car for it to open.. but my best buy has its own warehouse so i'm not to worried about a supply shock.

My GS isn't doing a midnight release though I think they could afford to do it if they did a dual Mass Effect/Rock Band release. I'll be showing up tomarrow around noon to get it.

planning to go after class, around 7-ish. only bb in the state doing midnight launch, I hope they have a lot of units... (and not a lot of customers!)

holy crap I just realized that'd be waiting 5 hours... ok maybe I'll just see how the line is.

the store i have it preordered at isn't doing a midnight thing cause they claim they aren't gonna have very many copies so i'm gonna have to be there at 10am for when the store opens to make sure i actually get my preorder. if no, i might have to go out trekking for it.

Can anyone give me an idea about how good 24 hour Wal-Mart is about games being released? We are planning to go tonight at midnight - will they honour the November 20th date at Midnight or not?

I'm going to be getting up at the buttcrack of dawn to head to the Fred Meyer down the street from my place. They open at 7, so I'm going to try to get there at 6 to see if there's a line.

I'll be at the North Hills Village Gamestop in Pittsburgh right after heroes. I just downloaded the latest smodcast, so that'll take me to 11... and then there's other crap to do.

You know, i'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the people who are going to be lining up for this game are right here posting on this forum from our various areas.

Anyone heading to Waldorf, MD tonight for the 24 hour release? i'm considering the drive down but its like...1.5 hr drive.

Called my Best Buy they claim to have around 30, I was also told I need to come early, there may or may not be a line. Sounds to me like they have been getting lots of calls on Rock Band since the ad came out about them having it on Tuesday.

I doubt I'll be able to get it tomorrow then, as I don't see myself being able to get there before 10, especially since I have a class at 10. Ah well, I'm more than a little disappointed that I wont be able to play Rock Band until next Tuesday.

Most Wal-Marts seems to be selling it at midnight (and they have had a history of midnight releases, including the Wii and Halo 3). You should call to confirm.

Thanks for the response. I have tried calling 4 times so far, and the responses are eerily similar, and incredibly lacking. The "associates" don't know about the game and know even less about when they will be selling it.

Any thoughts on what I should do when I show up at Midnight and get a blank stare from the guy behind the counter?

I live right in Waldorf, MD and I am probably going to go and see what the line looks like around 9:00 or 10:00. I have a serious problem waiting too long in line for a video game, especially with the Target, 2 Wal-Marts, CC, and Toys R Us right in Waldorf that I could try in the AM. I have a real-world job now and am hoping to be able to just walk in at midnight and walk out.

Don't know if I can help you there. If a manager is on duty (even if it is not the one for electronics), you might check with him or her. This is Wal-Mart, so proceed with caution.

My experience: on Friday, I called the store I'm planning to go to. The associate basically played the "I don't know game." She said that if they had it, they will sell it. But she didn't tell me when they would know how many they have. I'll be calling shortly and if I get the same response, I'll try one of the other local area Wal-Marts until I can find one that will guarantee that they will have it for purchase tonight.

Personally, I'm going on the hunch that they will have it based on what other people on the board are saying, many of whom have personal contacts at Wal-Mart stores.

Yeah, it looks pretty good considering many of the posts on here. I'm crossing my fingers though, because the alternative is spending a night in an SUV with 2 other dudes waiting for Target, and then Best Buy, to open their doors.

I'm up in Baltimore and i found that there are two 24 hr walmarts which i might hit up tonight. i'll know if i can make the drive in a little while. i dont' have my vehicle at the moment but hopefully that will change come this evening.
