View Full Version : Theater of the Obsurd: Amazon Scum Cancelled My Preorder

Like countless other people out there, I hopped on line this morning to check the status of my preorder on Amazon.com.
I do a little poking around in my account history, and notice an unusual debit on my account within the past month.... something I had not authorized.
Based on an earlier purchase and without my consent, Amazon had enrolled me in their "Amazon Prime" club... a subscription based service at $79/year. I looked back in my account history and saw how they had tacked on this underhanded charge under the guise of "free shipping" on a software purchase nearly two months ago.
After a lengthy phone conversation with their support, I was insistant enough that they were ready to refund the subscription. So they go to process the cancellation and it is held up by an "in progress" transaction... none other than my RB pre-order.
Now I am as die-hard as it gets to get the game, but I was simply not willing to eat an $80 loss and give that ****-bag corporation the satisfaction of ripping me off. So the only alternative given me was to cancel the order.
It looks like my evening plans just took a detour to a midnight Walmart camp-out.

BURN!
I preordered through GameStop. I still have some fealty to that company, even though they destroyed my precious FuncoLand.
You can come over to my house if you want to play. Where are you again? I'm in indianapolis, so we're not that far from anybody (give or take 3 days driving)!

12 hours in the car and I'll be there! :D
Kidding, I know a pretty remote Walmart in the area that should be an easy target come midnight. I purchased both GH2 and GH3 there with minimal lines and very little waiting.
But I am adding Amazon to my shtlist of companies to never do business with... including other morally-bankrupt companies such as Ebay, Overstock.com, etc.

This is why I did an in-store pre-order. I don't trust the net with something I want extremely bad unless it's the only way to get it. Sorry apples, that sucks man.

Overstock is based out of Plainfield, IN, from what I hear. It's about 25 minutes west of me. Leave now and you can make it in time to play tonight!
You show up at my place and say, "Whatup dude. I'm Apples. You FallenAce?"
And we'll actually call each other that IRL. It'll be sweet.
Then we'll swing by Overstock and egg their warehouse like we're 12.
And since my family's doing Thanksgiving in Cali, I can come to your house since I don't have plans.
Sound good?

Hah, if only I wasn't expected at a conference call at work.
Most likely I will do a 2 hour camp out, get it home, 2 hours of BWT setlist, then pray that 4-5 hours of sleep is enough for the next day.

That stinks, better bundle up for that midnight release! I've been having problems with Amazon as well, they bumped my pre-order because I changed my shipping method, so now it wont be shipped until the 26th, I'm going to take my chances at Best Buy tomorrow.

Yeah, I hope you get a copy tonight. As far as Amazon goes:
"Damn the Man, save the Empire!"
In your blog you said you flew to the Minneapolis airport. If you're in the twin cities and can't get a copy, you can come play my copy with me all weekend.
