Band / Character customization in Solo mode

I've always assumed that in Solo mode we'd be able to still name our band and customize a character (and earn money to upgrade the look of the character) just like in GH. But after reading Ars Technica's review they didn't bring up customization until discussing BWT. Can you still create a band and customize your Solo character?

(By the way, sorry I'm posting this in its own thread -- I had asked in the Ars Technica review thread but that one was already on life support and was worried the question would get lost).

Your character-> Yes
Your band name-> No

In solo, no band name, no band logo, no designing your bandmates. Your "band name" is the same as the name of your character, there's no logo, and the bandmates are randomized generics at each venue.

So you have a Paul McCartney thing goin on...You have a band with you and stuff, but its all about the one guy and everyone else are puppets that play background stuff. :P

Thanks for the responses guys... Certainly makes sense you can't customize your whole band and as for band name that's minor compared to at least being able to customize yourself and buy stuff.

Oh, another thing... Say that I have Solo Guitar and Drummer characters... When I do form my band to play with my daughter (who'll probably go Bass) can I import those characters to round out the band (oh yeah and a vocalist -- w/e =))? And if I import them is it just the basic shape / face / height or do you bring in items earned in Solo on each character?

Yeah, you can import people, but I dont know about the importing clothing also...

You can't change your instrument style, no. Your guitarist can't become a singer or a drummer and vice versa. Only allowed shift is bass guitar vs. lead guitar.

I was wondering this as well. Can we create different characters for each instrument in Sole mode? I want to atleast know i don't have to use the same character across all of solo career. I'd like to have a variety of characters to use.

Aww, that sucks. :( I wanted to be able to switch instruments with my friends, and switch our on-screen characters. Now, when we switch, I have to use their character. I know it's not a real big deal, but when you've got two guitarists vying for position... let's just say I don't wanna play bass throughout the whole freakin' WT.

I think a much better philosophical approach to it is to create a band together - rather than each person having 'their' character.
