I believe it varies from state to state.

Google state sales taxes or something.

It depends on the state. My state has 6% sales tax.

Delaware has no sales tax, but they're a vast minority. Most states do.

The PSN will apply state tax in some states. A song will cost around $2.14 or so if you have to pay tax in your state on PSN purchases. Does that answer your question?

I live in a state with sales tax and I'm not taxed on my songs.

The only way I get taxed on my songs is if I buy a MS points card from a retail store. If I buy it directly through MS, not tax.

Yes, you're going to see the full price before you purchase anything.

Flawless: Some states have a sales tax but don't pay it on PSN downloads. Michigan has a 6% sales tax, but I don't pay that on my purchases (technically you're supposed to declare it on your tax return, but who does that?). Legally, it only applies to states that Sony has a retail presence in.

Oh, my apologies.

I tried to help without first hand knowledge!

Thanks for clearing it up on my behalf though.

For the non-US PS3 players, it definitely helps to *cough* relocate your Entropay card to a state that doesn't levy sales taxes. But not that I know anything about this, of course. :P

thanks magnet! but i guess my next question would be, since killer roach threw something in the mix, which state other than Michigan doesn't charge 4 tax on the PS3 but has sales tax? And what if you buy a PSN network card from a retail store that doesn't charge tax. thanks!

I don't have a list of which states apply or don't apply tax on PSN purchases. I also have no experience with PSN cards so I can't really answer that. Maybe someone else can fill in some blanks.

(Also, moving this to General now.)

I'm in California and we have 8.25% state tax but don't get charged tax on PSN purchases.

That might be why I don't pay any tax, guess I just located my card in the right place.

I am in California, and do not think I am being taxed for DLC.

I think my entropay card is located in San Diego so that would be why I don't get taxed.

In Cook County (Chicago) we get charged 10.25% sales tax...

Luckily, my county only charges 6.25%.

DLC is the least of my concerns for claiming online purchases... my computer parts come to mind... (the last wave of them was about $1200)

people are all
OMG why are we taxed.
Newfoundland has 13% tax.
That's 2.25 per song
Or 1.12
