WTF Walmart!?

So im one of those without a Pre-Order. I call up walmart and it goes as it follows:


Walmart: *cheesy slogan* How may i help you?

Me: Electronics Please.


Walmart: One Moment

Electronics Guy: Hi! How may i help you?

Me: You know the Game Rock Band?

Electronics: No i do not.

*Awkward silence*

Me: Do you know someone who knows moar about it?

Electronics: Yes, Hold on.


NEW Elecctronics Guy: Hi, How may i help you?

Me: You know the game Rock Band right?

Electronics: Yea.

Me: Alright are you guys gonna put it out at midnight?

Electronics: No we are not, we will be putting them out at 5am

Me: Ok ill see you tommorow at 5am then.

Electronics: Woah, Rock Band comes out on the 23rd.

Me: WHAT?! No it does not!

Then they hung up on me.





So i called GameStop.

Me: Hey are you guys gonna have any spare rock bands tommorow?

GS: What System?

Me: Xbox 360

GS: We have ONE spare if you can get here first at 10am its yours.

me: Thanks! *click*

Take a competitors flyer in to walmart and show them when it comes out. They are supposed to match competitors offers.

Yea some of the Walmarts are being idiots. I called yesterday to a Walmart and they said they'd be on sale tonight at midnight. I went in personally today to scope the place out and just double-checked with the person in electronics, she seemed unsure but said it should be available tonight. As I was walking away she apparently decided to check with her manager (I don't know why she did this after I left) and then she called me back. Her manager said she got notice that she wasn't allowed to sell them until Friday. I told her that its official release date is tomorrow and she didn't seem to care. WTF.

But... I then went to a different Walmart (~5 miles away) and talked with their electronics department. The person there said they'd be available at midnight but she didn't know how many they would have, so I went and talked to her manager. She said she wasn't sure what their stock was but she confirmed the midnight availability tonight (not Friday) and said aside from myself there was only one other person who had called about it (and that may have also been me). So HOPEFULLY they won't screw me over...

Being a Wal-mart associate myself, let me first apologize for our electronics associates who have the product knowledge of a turd. Call back and ask to speak to the Assistant Manager over Electronics, Connection Center and Photo Lab, and ask him how they will be doing their release. If he is unable to give the right information ask for the GM Co-Manager or the Store Manager.

I guarantee you that one of them will give you the answer you're looking for. Keep trying. All Wal-marts will sell at least some of their stock tonight at Midnight.

Many stores are probably doing what my store is doing. We are selling half of our Rock Band alotment tonight, and the other half on the morning of Black Friday (at 5 AM). Our Store Manager decided to do this only because the Wal-Mart Home Office decided to put Rock Band in the Black Friday circular, and our managers were worried that people would be pissed if we didn't at least have some that morning.

2 "don't know anything."
1 "Friday only."

Chances are, it'll be a different associate when you go in tonight. They usually work like 10 PM to 6:30 AM or something like that. When you go in, just ask for the game that they have the demo setup for with the drums. I asked my local one and they have no clue as to what I was even talking about. I got sly answers such as "Is that a game?" "Are you sure it's an American game?" "Is it on the original Xbox or the white one?"

When I told them I was talking about the demo with the drums they had, and that it came in a big blue box "OH, THAT game. Yeah, at midnight it'll be out"

I just came from Wal-Mart. They had the brown box with 2 PS3 Bundles in it next to the register. orange sticker: DISPLAY BEFORE STORE OPENS on 11/20.

Bottom line. The people working at Walmart are working there for a reason. They have no idea what's going on and every one of them will tell you something different. I've been ran through the ringer trying to get several games at Walmart before.

i think i am loving walmart right now! they guaranted me a ps3 bundle at midnight. only an hour and 40 minutes away! YES ROCK BAND IS COMING!!
