Foo Fighters are set to take a "long break" from music and have warned fans not to expect a new album any time soon.

Frontman Dave Grohl told BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles that the band were set to go on hiatus then return with a new sense of purpose further down the line.

"We've never really taken a long break, I think it's time," he said.

The former Nirvana drummer continued: "After doing Wembley [the band played Wembley Stadium on June 6 and 7] we shouldn't come back there for 10 years because we've played to everybody.

"We're over in the UK every year, every summer, so I think it's time to take a break and come back over when people really miss us."

Exactly, and if the Foo Fighters did break up, I'd sure hope Josh Homme would invite Dave Grohl back in Queens of the Stone Age. As far as the Foo Fighters not being "that good", I think they are one of the better rock bands out there. They don't try to sound like the trendy stuff. I can't think of a better rock band that has been active over the same period.

The Foo Fighters are like the vanilla of rock bands. You can't really hate em, but they're not too exciting either.

They do seem to be winning way to many awards for what they are worth though, but i guess rappers and hip-hop artists are winning much much more then they should as well. It's good to see a rock band over a rap/hip-hop winning an award, just goes to show Long Live Rock.

Ok, I am 99% sure that The Foo Fighters AREN'T breaking up. I have seen a lot of recent activity. Also the first post makes this sound like they are just taking a break from touring in England, ha ha. Ya, they're not breaking up, I just remembered, they were in Toronto recently.

They are going on Hiatus after the tour is done. I'm annoyed though. I wanted to go see them at Virgin Festival (Sounds kinda Satanic doesn't it :p), but I though it'd be a better use of money to wait a few months for them to be on tour again and see them when they were getting more than 30 mins of stagetime. Looks like it's gonna be more than a few months now:(
