What is with everbody trashing bass?

Bass is in no way the most important instrument in a band. It's barely even heard in most songs. Drums keep tempo and lead/rhythm guitar are actually heard in every song.

Friendly rivalry with guitarists aside, there's absolutely nothing bad or not respectable about bass... in real life. In the game, it's another story. I haven't played bass in Rock Band yet, but bass in GH2 was so boring it made me want to tear my hair out. Just cause the instrument is important in real life doesn't mean it's necessarily fun to play in a game.

i think some of the bass parts in GHII were fun, you just have to know which ones to play.

but in rock band, some fun bass songs are reptilia, won't get fooled again,in bloom, detroit rock city, dani california, run to the hills, a lot more, etc.

If your drummer is lame... your music will be dull and boring and crappy and stuff

Bands can get by w/ decent bass and decent guitar... but sucky ass drumming will ruin a band

You need a pimp drummer who uses his double bass alot and does lots of sweet fills and knows how to make a kick ass beat :O

Who cares. Whoever trashes bass trashes music in general. I'd like to add, though; no one instrument is more important than the other. I'd also like to reply to "Because you don't shred", have you ever held a bass in your hands? I know I have, and I know I can shred on a bass whenever I want. It's a guitar, with four fat strings and a longer neck. You can do whatever the hell you want with a bass. Why bands don't utilize it to it's full extent, I have no clue.

Respect the bass = respect the music.
If you don't respect music, you're wasting your time here.
