2 Strats or 1 Strat and 1 Xplorer

Hey everyone!

I'm finalizing my Rock Band plans and I can't decide what to do about the second guitar. I know someone selling a bundle piece by piece, so I have the opportunity to buy a 2nd Strat on its own. For the same amount of cash as hes charging for that, I can get the GH2 bundle Thursday at a couple stores.

The advantage of the GH2 is that I'll still have a 2nd guitar, but I'll also be able to play the GH games on the 360.

With the Strat, I'll have the clickless strum bar, and an argueably better guitar then the Xplorer, but unless they patch GH3, I'll never be able to play the GH series on 360 without dropping money for a third guitar.

Thoughts? Lets try to avoid comments on GH vs RB and the anti-strat arguements!

I think it really boils down to preference. Try them out, then decide. How you do that is up to you.

Its always good to have 2 different guitars to choose between. That way youre not stuck with 2 strats you might not love.

Personally, I'd go for the Explorer. You'll have two different guitars. You can use it for both GH3 and RB.

Yeah, the good ole X-Plorer is a tank... and who doesn't want to jam out looking like Hettfield?

And in case they weren't convincing enough for you, I agree with buying the Xplorer. Sure, the Strat is fun but easily tradeable with the Xplorer if it is you and a friend. I'm pretty sure it would be a blast for you and someone else to both be playing the bottom five frets, but come on, the benefits of being able to play BOTH of the Guitar Hero games far outways having two Strats. Instead of being limited to one game (excluding future games that the Strat could be compatible with.

Go for the Xplorer. 3 games instead of 1.

Because the GH2 deal will be vastly cheaper, and GH2 is also a much better game.

Based on feel, I like the Strat a LOT better than the X-plorer. And the guitar strap feels better, position-wise.

However, Guitar Hero 2 is incredible, so if you want to play that game, go with the X-plorer package.

Dude, I got a used Xplorer for the 360 on Craigslist for $40. Search there and maybe used ones on Amazon or Ebay as well. They'll be cheaper than if you buy a new one, and will probably work just as well.

The idea hinges on the fact that 4 stores have the GH2 bundle on sale this weekend for $60. That's about the same I was going to buy a Strat for, and the price alone is great. Buying the game and getting the geetar free, heck yea!
