View Full Version : Less than 3 hours and something's not working already...

So yeah, I get my copy of Rock Band from Wal-mart and bring it home and play at my friend's for a bit. It's getting late, he has work in the morning, so I bring it back to my house. I plug the controller in (guitar) and nothing's lighting up. This is the 360 version btw. But I'm sitting here trying to figure out whose fricking head I should smash right now. I didn't pay 170 bucks for something to just stop working with no rhyme or reason because people are too incompetent to put a game out when it should be out on shelves, not before the required peripherals are even completely kinked out.

I just feel a little sore on my bottom because I've had this game for not 3 hours and already one of the damned components stopped working without me doing anything damaging to it.

What other possible reason could there be?

If connecting through the hub, you did provide the USB hub with power, right?

My piece of trash guitar double strums and sometimes triple strums when I only strum once downwards. Its immpossible to play with it and I'm pissed off. This is unacceptable that something is screwed up less then 2.5 hrs after using it.

Having guitar problems also however i opened up the back of mine. Upon doing that i discovered that the strum down mechanics inside are held there by hot glue, theres a prong that an ear off the strum bar touches when you strum down and makes it touch the other prong completing the signal. What seems to be happening is that ear isn't long enough or the piece thats hot glued is comming loose, i wont be surprised if there is a recall on the guitars. Further more the one on display at my local wal-mart had the same problem, the wal mart in the neighboring town, same problem, the one i bought same problem, strum bar going down dont work 1/2 the time. My suggestion, wait till bugs are worked out.

I have it connected through the hub. I literally did NOTHING to damage it other than put it together and play it for less than an hour. I then placed it neatly into the box where it stood still while i transported it from house to house. I didn't even hit the box off of anything to knock anything loose.

The reason I haven't been on the forums *****ing more is because I've been playing the drums online with people and trying to also get the god forsaken mic adapter to work correctly enough for people to hear me at an audible volume.

Also...wtf is there a place to put batteries on a WIRED controller for??? (this is an observation from taking apart what I could without a power tool on the guitar) I'm going to try and fix this myself at least a little bit.

Seriously...2 HOURS???

god read my above post check that area of the guitar out, although yours not comming on altogether is interesting, and ya, wtf is the battery for that came with it? as for the one on the back of the guitar, perhaps they plan to make a wireless version that looks the same just wireless, therefore making 2 molds for the same look in production would be more costly than need be, why make 2 models when you can make 1

it's almost 6 here, I'm suppose to get my bundle in about 4 hours. Even if the guitar doesn't work i'm pretty confident HMX will release a patch that helps, if not. I'll just ship it off and practice the drums (guitar is the main reason i'm getting the game, but I really want to get on expert with drums too)

Dont worry. Same thing happened with GH3. Tons of complaints early on on the forums but the vast majority had no issues.

Indeed, forums such as this always make problems seem vastly overblown. There's no way to know how many people are out there with perfectly functional equipment.

That being said, I hope my stuff works right...

It's 5 where I live (I finally fell asleep at 1, but my dogs woke me up and I can't get to sleep.) and I get my copy at 10. It's troubling thinking that the guitar won't work, but at the same time I have two GH guitars I can use if the RB one breaks. I really hope it works though, cuz I love that guitar. If it doesn't work, I'll just send it to whoever to get fixed. As long as the drums and mic work, I'll be content for the most part.

I'm heading over to GS after my classes are over at 10:40am so I hope all my peripherals work! I was lucky enough to dodge the woes with the GH3 and GH2 controllers and just hope my luck holds out.

if i were to guess i would think it would, i dont think there is anything special about, also on another note if your playing solo or just 2 player you can just plug it directly into your xbox and not even worry about the hub, the hub is just there for multiplayer over 2 players, also it seems they know about problems with the strum bars for anyone else who may post on it, go to the support page pick your console tell em your havin probs with your guitar and it looks like they'll send you a new one out. GL with your problems guys

Aalready posted this in another thread, but I want to make sure it is seen.

What are people who don't have live or a high speed internet connection supposed to do if they have the guitar problem and can't download a patch?
There are people in that boat.

Did they pay $170.00 for a guitar that isn't going to work?

Ya know...this is true. I was very worried about GH3 myself after checking the forum right before going to get my copy. Tons of people saying the guitar was crap. But in the end most are saying it's the best one out there. 2 hours and 45 mins. til I get mine. Fingers are crossed.

Good Luck getting your bundles this morning people! Mine is comming via UPS Next Day Air from GameStop.com, I'll be getting mine anywhere between 9am and 9pm, I do plan on going to the mall though to see if they have any considering I live in an area where campout lines for hot items are no more then 4 people long 5 minutes before the store opens. Good Luck!

So, I received my RB at work when my gf brought it to me. She stood in line for a half an hour and bawt it for me for mah bday. <3 Anyway, I work 11p-7a so I played through 45 or so songs on solo tour mode. During the last half an hour or so I started getting into some of the harder songs. On Green Grass and Highway Star, some of the more tedious songs, the strum bar would stop registering. I thought maybe I was just hitting the wrong notes or not getting the timing right. So, I decided to go back to a song I aced. Same thing happened. The strum bar feels like there's little resistance on the down movement. I'm kinda bummed because I wanted to take it home and have a family night around RB. I'm not sure if its gonna happen now. I went to support.ea.com and opted to get another guitar so I'll be expecting one in 2-3 days. Until then, I'm just crossing my fingers it lasts through thanksgiving. I'm not one of the many that has a GH guitar since this is my first music game. I'm thinking about goin to my friend's house and seeing if theirs is messed also and possibly lookin into their Les Paul and contemplating on getting one of those if need be.

On a similar note: I was at work when I played the game. But, I work at a hotel where the internet required an internet browser to accept legal terms. This doesn't allow my 360 to get online. So, as of right now, I have not installed any "update" or "patch." I'm not sure it's gonna help with a hardware problem, maybe cancelling a double strum or increasing/decreasing sensitivity? I'm not sure, but I'll keep you all posted. I must say, this guitar thing has me flustered. But, and that's a very big but, this game is definately worth it. I've only played a few songs with my gf since she had to go back home, and it's already paid itself full in those few songs we could play each other. It's definately not something to worry about :D
