It shouldn't need to be plugged into the hub. Maybe try navigating into a song using your standard controller, at which point it should prompt you for the mic. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Turn on a controller... The mic has no buttons, it needs a controller.

I have the same problem, my brother, friend and I all came back. the drums and guitar were recognized fine, mic wasn't. we tried plugging the mic in by itself in the hub, by itself in the console, in the hub with the guitar, in the hub with the drums, it the hub with both, it the console with the guitar in the hub, in the console with the drums. Basically every combination possible. What the hell is going on. I plugged the mic into my computer and it recognizes it fine, speech recognition, recording, the whole shebang. this is gettting ridiculous.

You have to have a controller on as well.. thats how the MIC works.. so turn a controller on.. then rock out!..

I'm getting a terrible amount of lag whether I use a headset or the mic. It's probably at least 200ms. It sounds like a slapback echo. Any help?

Calibrate lag?

Calibrate your lag from the options menu.

We had the same problem and never solved it. We had the controller on and everything. The xbox would detect it but we never once heard ourselves on it. We get no pitch arrow either. I tried plugging the mic into my pc and xp did detect it but the "test hardware" portion in xp had no audio coming from the mic. I think it's dead.

I've already tried that. I went through the manual setup and it set both at 40ms. The guitar parts aren't lagged, only the recognition and playback of what I'm singing.

Just ordered a replacement mic (free) because mine is faulty. Sure glad I haven't been waiting MONTHS for this game.
