First off let me say I love the game and everything that I know of so far works... at least the drums and the midnight launch was awesome I'll talk about it later.
Is there no surround sound for this game?!
I have a 5.1 surround sound system with digital outputs on my Xbox 360. I was playing the game and I realized that none of the speakers were lit up on my receiver. I thought it was an issue with my receiver because it says Dolby Digital on the box of the game, then I go to the dashboard and sure enough all 5 speakers and subwoofer light up. I go back into the game and the speakers remain lit through the company logos but go away in game play.
I hope this isn't the same case as Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii.

One of the reviews went over how the 5.1 setup worked with Rock Band, but I can't remember which one it was. Try and find that review if you can...

There is a setting in the options menu to turn on DD. Just give that a click and you will be fine. :)

Main Menu > Options > check the Dolby Digital box. That should do the trick.

But seriously, ur awesome john. Now i know ur name isn't about the dude from Lost, but i gotta ask, do u like the show? from some of ur posts it sounds like theres a bit of loathing there. was just wondering if thats coz u dont like the show, or dont like people assuming ur name is taken from it?

John Locke was also a English philosopher. thats where the character from Lost is named after.
He was a great influence to Jean-Jacques Rousseau and David Hume (which is where Lost chars Danielle and Desmond are named after).
fun trivia on the side, its very well possible HMXJohn named himself after the philosopher.

Hank, if you could verify this, there may be a reason why Dolby Digital was turned off by default.
One of the reviewers suggested that when Dolby Digital was turned on, he was only getting output through the 2.1 speakers (at least for the music, I don't know about crowd noise, sound effects, etc.). With stereo output, at least your amp can do one of its simulated surround modes.
Can you check whether this is the case?

you get some separation but its not as good as GH2. the vocals/messups all seem to come from the center channel and everything else pipes out of your rights/lefts and surrounds i'd assume.

Hey, it's not too hard to own me! Sometimes I sit with messages fully typed out for like 5 minutes while I track other threads, sites, etc.
Plus, my name is more related to warlocks than anything else. I just don't know how to spell (ck is more confusing than just k after all). This thread has gone off topic and I'm LOCKing it.
WHOAA!!!!
Much <3 for the love.

David Hume is a great great great great (maybe some extra greats) uncle of mine. What does this mean? I don't know.
