View Full Version : Please resist all urges to dress up as the Joker on Halloween

Judging from the popularity of The Dark Knight and the Joker, as well as all the Joker costumes and merchandise at the mall, it seems like there will be a sea of Jokers on Halloween night. PLEASE don't dress up as the Joker on Halloween. Every dork who saw The Dark Knight and his little brother are dressing up as the Joker. Please have some imagination and originality. Don't turn a cool character like the Joker into this decade's The Crow.

Could not agree more.

I'm going to dress up as a lazy 16 year old who does nothing but stays at home and listens to music or plays video games while everyone else is tricker treating.

That's my way of being different :D

If the Joker is this decade's The Crow, then that settles it...

...I'll just have to be The Crow instead :)

I kid, I kid. Not sure what I'll do, if anything, as it's been a while since I've actually done a costume. But usually I do something for relative shock value if I do a costume... anything from Kurt Cobain (with a makeup-made "gunshot wound") to Martin Luther (doesn't sound like shock value, but try dressing up like a monk, holding a copy of the 95 Theses, in a town like the one I grew up in that's 75% Polish Catholic!).

Actually, I think it's time for a comeback.

thank ye, i changed it to show my support for my SOX!!! (I went to High School with Ron Kittle's son too!) I hope they can somehow pull a win out of their asses tomorrow, although as Ive said, I doubt they will make the playoffs this year, its not our year, but still, Im a hardcore Sox fan, and I gotta support them and Push for the Playoffs!!

My skin doesn't take to well to make-up anyway (that was a lot of fun when I was in my high school drama group... so much that I simply went for the 'no make-up so pale as a corpse under the spotlight' look in my brief stint in amateur stand-up comedy in college), so Joker's pretty much a no-no. Although the combination of the Joker make-up and the inevitable horrible rash would be very scary to behold... :D

How about not being any Batman-Pirates-Ninja costumes. Anything associated with those means you have no originality.

When I was a litte kid, I scared another kid dressed as Joker into crying with my Jason Voorhees costume, complete with real machete. :D

I may weld me up some Freddy claws this year...not sure yet.

But, what if I want to hang out with my friends?

What if our theme is: Visuals from Bob Dylan songs.

I mean, two of us would have to be The Joker & The Thief from "All Along The Watchtower".

Yeah, I find it sad that more people know "The Joker & The Thief" from that Wolfmother song than from Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All Along The Watchtower" or Bob Dylan's original.

I mean, it is easy to make a costume for "Tangled Up In Blue", but "All Along The Watchtower" would be difficult.

I don't think I could dress up as the Joker even if I wanted to, round these parts in October the weather is still somewhat hot, I remember one time I bought face make up to dress up as a Vampire......ohhh dude!! It was so uncomfortable! sweat was pouring down my face, make up was getting all smeared, it was just a big mess.

Look on the bright side, though... here we sometimes have to worry about the possibility of snow on Halloween.

Let that sink in for a few. :)

Around here, if someone dressed up as the Joker, people would think he was a juggalo and beat him.

Oh, and Stormtroopers are badass, minus the inability to aim. XD

agreed..but as is tradition with halloween: Ladies, "Slutty Joker" is still a viable option to go along with "Slutty Nurse", "Slutty Police Officer", and "Slutty [insert profession here]"....unless you're a fatty..

How about "Slutty Joker Nurse"?!? you know cus Heath Ledger (no disrespect intended) in that get up didn't really do it for me in Dark Knight, but maybe some hot little lady out there will pull it off!;)

Edit: ultra MEGA typo of the most embarrassing kind!

Look, as long as it isn't a fatty, and there is more skin viewable than clothing....anything works. Come as "Slutty Marlon Brando" for all I care, just as long as the goods are on display...again....no fatties.

Edit: may have very well been a typo LZ, but you do realize you said that Heath Ledger DID do it for you right? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Of course, "slutty Joker" is perfectly ok. Actually Harley Quinn would be an awesome costume for chicks, I say go for it.

The ladies always have that exception. You can dress up as a slutty janitor or a slutty box of cereal if you want, as long as it's slutty, it's a-ok with me.

And yes I agree, no fatties though.

Everybody makes their "Rocker" The Joker in Rock Band. I went through 4 bands today, 5 people were The Joker. I'm not kidding. You suck. Make something different. :D

I almost bought the Deluxe clone trooper costume at Party City, I tried it on, it looks really cool.....except, it is hard as hell to see through the helmet's visor, even while at the store with full light. Just so you know.
