Hey I was wondering if there is away to break the Video cable away from the audio cable becuase I want to hook my 360 to my surround sound but the cables are very short. Can you pull them apart like the Playstation and N64 cables?

Sorry if this doesnt belong here.

I don't think so. I may be wrong. Anyone want to prove me wrong?

Extension RCA cables for your audio are very cheap, why not just pick up a set of male/female extensions?

if you have the hi-def cables, the optical input is at the base of the thing otherwise i'm not sure because i don't have the other cables with me although i think all of the cables i have are seperated and i think the regular ones were too (although they weren't fully seperated)

does your TV have an "Audio Out" connection on the back of it...?

or you could hook up your 360 through something like a VCR or one of those input chooser things...like where you plug 4 things into a box and one wire coming out of the box going to the TV...

and then get seperate cables for video and audio...

if you have a spare wire...one where on each end are composite connections (red, white and yellow)

pull the yellow apart from the wire, connect the input chooser to the TV using only the yellow (Video) and with the Red and White cables connect the input chooser to your surround sound...same w/ the VCR...

If you're HD, than this may screw that up...so idk. :D

Mechanically speaking you CAN cut through that support with some wirecutters, but it's going to look terrible. Of course, I don't believe your cables are individually shielded for separation that far into the cable. All-in-all, it's just wiring, but the chances that you'll screw it up are pretty high unless you're used to that kind of thing.

Even if you succeeded, you'd probably need to go get some heat-shrink tubing to seal those wires back up once separated, and the cost differencing between that (probably $6 worth of tubing) and cable extensions ($9 or so) is too dismal, in my opinon.

Try monoprice.com -I've had luck in the past getting optical cables for my surround system. I'm sure you can find some decent work arounds that are affordable too.
