View Full Version : The Conclusion to An Epic Quest

Yesterday was the beginning of an epic quest for Kyidro and I... Some horrible things happened this weekend... First of all, my Dad was recently fired from his job... so my family was strapped for cash... we didn't have enough money for Rock Band. However, Saturday night, that would become the least of my worries. Saturday night at about 2 AM (Sunday morning really, I guess), I got a call from my father saying that he had been in a motorcycle accident... That was obviously no bueno. So I spent all Sunday in the hospital with him. Monday I missed school because I was worried about him, and then my Mom told me that we were still getting the game. I told her that I didn't want it. You see, with my Dad in the hospital we won't be able to pay many bills until we get something like disability or unemployment... Sooooo... Kyidro and I got together and did some calculations. I believe he came up with a total of something along the lines of $183-ish, including tax. Then we made a list of all the games we wanted to trade in. Then we gathered up all the games and my PSP and went to go trade them in. Just then the phone rang and my friend Muneeb told me he's buy the PSP for $60 which was a good deal since my UMD drive doesn't read discs anymore... So I took it over to his house, and he bought it, and that crazy awesome bastard gave me a free fricken XBOX 360 to trade in which we ended up getting $120 for. This almost covered the expenses in itself, so we ended up getting about $200 together. So I asked my grandmother to go by Best Buy and pick a copy up for us, and today during 2nd period, we got a message saying that she had got it and it was at my house... So right now... I'm within an hour of playing Rock Band for the first time in full. Needless to say I am excited. So that's my story. Anyone else got any stories they'd like to share about how they got their funds together?

I held back the tears. That's a tragic story but the ending gives a sense of optimism. Best Wishes to your Father and your family. You'll get through it.

Many thanks, guys.
Just found out today that he's going to have to have plastic surgery on his leg... needs a skin graft to cover up the wound... but they got some screws in his knee so I doubt he'll be doing any Axel dances anytime soon. Sucks that he's gonna have to spend Thanksgiving in the hospital, but the doctors do say that he'll be doing much better once they stop his infection and get that wound covered. Maybe I shall post updates about his progress.
Thanks again for your concern though.

I'd be interested. It's a shame you have to go through this during Thanksgiving, but you can always give thanks that he's still alive. Happy Thanksgiving to you sir (even though I'm Canadian :p)

Our Thanksgiving is in October. This Thursday is just another day for Canada.

I figured it was a different day what I should have said I guess was, "Happy Belated/Early Canadian equivalent of Thanksgiving."
