Demon Hunter DLC?

I'm going to start this thread off and say something that I guarantee will be pointed out numerous times. Yes, Demon Hunter is a Christian band. Yes, I know some of you are Christian haters, some just don't care, and some are Christians (I'm a Christian myself, but I play and love a lot of the songs in Rock Band, regardless of lyrics or who the band is, because I play for the spirit of playing and just love to have fun.).

Demon Hunter being a Christian band or not, they've been featured on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball and Fuse TV. They also had a track in the Resident Evil: Apocalypse movie soundtrack. They've had members from The Agony Scene, 36 Crazyfists, Killswitch Engage and Thousand Foot Crutch featured in some of their songs. It just shows that this band is well liked regardless of what they believe in.

If you feel the need to point out something I've said here, make sure it's well thought out and not just "lol u dum", "lol christians" or anything a 9 year old would say. Put a little thought into why you think they shouldn't be included.

I think Demon Hunter is an amazing band (It's my favorite band), and have multiple songs that could be added that would be a blast to play. Songs that immediately come to mind that would be great additions are:

I kinda "skimmed" the songs, sounded pretty similar, but that isn't always a bad thing. I'm not against them, but I wouldn't want a full album or a big pack. If they killed the intro to "Not I" I would buy it, and maybe "Fading Away".

I would love to have a single release, a 3 song pack, or even a full album. Also, the 30 second intro is actually a separate track. The person that uploaded that video added the 2 together. The real song starts at about 30 seconds, when the entire band starts playing.

The drummer is one of the best you will hear in the metal community. The guitar is superb especially in songs their songs like Follow The Wolves, Grand Finale, and Undying. And DH has been noted to be one of the best metal bands by several metal critics. DH has every reason to be a dlc.

They're good enough to get some recognition from Killswitch Engage (who already have a song in RB, btw). The lead singer of KSE, Howard Jones, collaborated with DH on their song "Our Faces Fall Apart" from the album Summer of Darkness. You can hear Jones in the part right before the chorus.

Yes, if I heard them on the radio, I could probably point out who they are, but there's still a lot of recycled elements from other bands that I hear in their music and they've eve recycled some of their own material.

Exactly, if bands "uniqueness" is what makes them worthy of this game, then there are MANY bands who shouldn't even be considered in this game, but are there anyway.

Besides, Demon Hunter has gotten excellent review by some of the most critical metal reviewers on the planet, and that "1 of 10 artists to watch" must mean something. And i don't know if this has been posted, but the riff at the end of this song is awesome, and would also be awesome to play in RB.

t think it is "spreading the message" as much as it is "Giving christian metalheads music their parents won't take away from them." Although, in some of their songs, it's quite easy to hear what he says, even if he is screaming, and if you understand just a little bit, it should be easy to hear they are christian.

That's what I love about Demon Hunter. I'm not a big fan of screaming in songs, but if you can sorta make out the words, then I think it's alright. I don't get the point of screaming/growling like Underoath. I'm sorry, but I can't understand a bit of that.

Several bands have gotten DLC around the time a new CD/DVD came out, so there's hope for Demon Hunter. The Killers are getting a 3 pack that week (11/25) because of their new album, so it might be a week of promo stuff...maybe.

It sucks that people will do anything to get Christian bands away from this game, but when the first Rock Band came out, pretty much you ALL failed that mission. Flyleaf happened to be on there! WHAT NOW?!?!?! I'm a Christian and even though I understand where these people come from, it's more of a hatred of Christian music rather than a hate crime in these peoples eyes. But seriously Demon Hunter needs to be in this game! Any album or any song from them will be greatly downloaded onto my 360 if they ever make it onto this game! And Slipknot is probably one of the most generic bands out there! Their new album consists of more alternative music than nu-metal music, which is shocking because it's SLIPKNOT for crying out loud! Demon Hunter may have changed their sound, but they didn't get rid of the metal, and that's why they are primarily my favorite Christian band. If my favorite band (Protest the Hero) never existed, Demon Hunter would be my favorite band of all time! I'm a supporter of The Blessed Resistance and the whole "Hunters" thing. I want to get a tattoo to support Demon Hunter! That's how I love Demon Hunter so much! Their music is awesome, but unlike most bands, they send out a message! Posts like yours won't help the thread, though, they will only turn it into another pro/contra religion flamewar that has been mostly avoided so far. Nobody is trying to keep certain bands away from the game. So showing your support for any band is absolutely fine, but de-railing a thread with some kind of persecution complex is not.

That, and paragraphs are your friend. Don't leave them out in the cold, but invite them into your text.

Shoot I'd even settle for even one song in a 3 pack. Maybe throw in some more Metal with bands along the lines of Living Sacrifice and Soul Embraced. But I think they should warrant an entire pack regardless of their or your religion. Can't you just accept music for what it is? If I don't like a band it has more to do with what I'm hearing opposed to what they say they do or don't believe in.

Well, Demon Hunter wouldn't be the first Christian band to appear in Rock Band. Flyleaf, Kutless and Underoath are all Christian bands who have already appeared (Flyleaf in Rock Band 1, Kutless and Underoath in the 20 Free DLC songs). I figure if a band can make it big on MTV, there is a good chance they will be in Rock Band eventually. Demon Hunter is such a band and I really hope they do appear not only because they have good messages in their songs, but also because their songs are awesome.

First off, I vote yes for Demon Hunter because they are one of my favorite bands. I feel like they are very musically talented and blessed. I would kill for some Summer of Darkness, The Triptych, or Storm the Gates of Hell DLC. If I had to narrow it down to 6 songs, I'd go with

Anyway, I wanted to come back now that I have some more time, and offer a little more insight to this...

Yeah, of course people will go "OMG Christian band!" but at this point, with Kutless, Underoath, and "Spirit in the Sky" in RB2, I think that's rather moot. Besides, we were introduced to DH through a former roommate, who's aethiest, and had no idea they were a Christian band. We didn't realize it until we looked into the lyrics and then visited their site. And if I recall correctly, they were sorted in the "metal" section at FYE, not "Christian."

Next, they sure ain't nobodies. They've been featured on Headbanger's Ball and have a blog on the site. And MTV makes Rock Band. So they've kinda got an in! And they've toured the country, which is more than can be said for some of the bands already in RB.

My top picks would have to be One Thousand Apologies, Not I, Undying, Follow the Wolves, Fading Away, My Heartstrings Come Undone, and My Throat is an Open Grave. Just a few. But if they took just one song from each CD, it would make a nice pack (4 songs).

As far as the music goes, well, it's got a good blend of metal and melody for vocals. GREAT lyrics for those who worry about that. Some difficult guitar and then some nice calming strums, depending. The drums sound great, and thinking about it, would be easy to adapt to the drum controller.

All you have to do is like at their drummer between the Tryptich and Storm the Gates of Hell albums. He must've dropped 100 pounds!

It looks like playing the drums for Demon Hunter on a regular basis paired with a proper diet makes for a pretty good weight-loss program. :cool:

Okay, well I sent an email to Harmonix a while back asking how a band gets songs into the game, like if HMX has to contact them first, or they can contact HMX, etc. I was told it happens all different ways (including the band contacting them), so what I did was I sent a message to DH's MySpace (like they really check it themselves:rolleyes:) including the email and a link to this thread. I asked if whoever would please make sure the band saw it. Er, the reply was "Thanks" so who knows. XD

I mean the past several months of DLC have been crap for me. there was a good run what with the A7X songs the roadrunner pack and the ATR pack and so on but after the ATR pack the only things ive bought have been laid to rest and are you dead yet(i regret buying are you dead yet lol).

With school and work keeping me pretty busy this past month, I haven't really paid much attention to Rock Band. The lack of familiar songs as DLC isn't helping either.

In summary, some Demon Hunter DLC would actually get me to play Rock Band again over spring break next week.

I agree. Most of my time in the music store has been a waste. They keep adding things I don't know. Granted, I wasn't up to date on music from the radio for a long time because my antenna in my car (my only source of radio) didn't work. But even the older stuff they released, I'm like "what the heck is that?"

Sadly, I don't think there's even time to get liscensing on DH songs by your spring break. :P

I have wanted DH on Rock Band as DLC for quite some time now. It makes no sense to me why a band like Skillet (who in my opinion, while they are a good band, don't bring anything very new to the difficulty level of the game) is on the game, and a band like Underoath (who is *GASP* really similar to DH) is on the game, why shouldn't DH be on the game? I vote yes. And I want them to put "Collapsing" on there.

Oh, and Ryan Clark is actually growling more than he is screaming, and if you think that it is any easier to do that than scream, you have no idea.

I personally love a lot of Demon Hunter's slower songs, but their other songs are pretty good too. My Heartstrings Come Undone, I Play Dead, Carry Me Down, Collapsing, and of course One Thousand Apologies.
