Since the GH3 PS3 guitar doesn't work with RB, and the PS2 GH3 guitar, using the Pelican PS2->PS3 controller adapter will work, sort of, with PS3 GH3 but not at all with RB -- all of these items I happen to have and have tested; I even tried my 360 GH2 wired X-plorer since it's USB -- any ideas for a temporary extra PS3 RB guitar? You think maybe a 3rd party wired, or maybe even wireless, PS2 GH1/GH2 controller with Pelican PS2->PS3 might do it until the separate RB PS3 guitars ship? We'd just use it for a bass.

I think a controller (sixaxis) is your only choice.

I think I'll just wait then. Not like there's not plenty to do until they ship the separate guitars.

I have tried ps GH1 controllers with a pelican adapter on the ps3 version of Rock Band. I have numerous friends who have been waiting for me to get this game so we can have 4-player-music-game-mayhem, and this utter lack of compatibility is fairly disappointing. Boo!

I don't believe the sixaxxis works, as it is only recognized as the Microphone's controller.

If there were no problems with the Strat strum-bar then Feb 4 maybe ridiculous. But considering how many need to replace their controllers it doesn't seem all that ridiculous.

Well, the other thing to consider is the business side of it.

If I have a manufacturing plant that can make me 100,000 guitar controllers by Christmas, would I rather sell those controllers in 100,000 Special Edition bundles at $170, or in 70,000 bundles plus 30,000 separate controllers at $60?

The math says $17M in sales vs. $13.7M.

When you consider that the 360 has the lion's share of the sales and no compatibility issues with peripherals, you might as well get as many bundles out there as possible and weather the storm from the PS3 players who got shafted by Red Octane's decision to make their guitar operate on a proprietary scheme.

Red Octane may have used a proprietory scheme but this so called "open Standard" that harmonix supposedly used is BS or we could play GH1 and GH2 with the strat. These game's guitars were supposedly these same open standards. The strat is proprietory as well.
