Hey, just got an electronic drum kit. I was wondering if there was any way possible to get it to work on Rock Band.
NOTE: It IS NOT the Drum Rocker by ION.

You'd want a MIDI to Xbox/PS3/Whatever controller interface like:
http://rockbandkickbox.com/rockbanddrums.htm
or http://www.bytearts.com/midi/index.htm

I'll look into that... if there is anything easier, as in, something you could just buy and use, it'd be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what these are. Although I have to admit that the J5 is not MIDI-in Controller-out type like you want. The Bytearts one is a direct MIDI to Controller box with minimal setup, although only for PS3 because Microsoft has a encryption/security on their controller scheme.

I got the Ion ied01 for Xmas today, and got it working in Rock Band using the Mad Catz Portable Drum set controller, right out of the box. They both use 1/8in cables, so I guessed that it would serve, and it does. I Y-ed the two pads on the left to the red input, until I can score the Ion cymbal attachment, but you can use any 1/8in Y connector for any of the inputs (i.e. double bass pedals, etc)

I hate bringing back a thread from the grave, but I just wanted to concur that using the Mad Catz portable drum kit controller with the Ion ied01 drum pads does in fact work. I picked up my drum set last night, then went to Gamestop and got the Mad Catz set, went home, set it all up, and it works flawlessly.
Thanks to VeeKaChu for originally verifying this works - his post and website is the sole reason why I went this route - I got the Ion drumset with 2 extra pads for $100 & the Mad Catz set for $30.

It is not USB, the IED05 is USB. I'm asking if it'll work in another thread but nobody's is answering.

Yes, the iED01 has a MIDI Out port, so you could use it with the GH:WT drum kit as a MIDI converter.

one last question for this topic... on this kit, if i bought cymbals would it make the cymbal sound on fills or will it double up as a regular tom sound??

If you used the GH:WT MIDI box, then no, you would not get cymbal sounds in fills.

You'd want a MIDI to Xbox/PS3/Whatever controller interface like:
http://rockbandkickbox.com/rockbanddrums.htm
or http://www.bytearts.com/midi/index.htm
...or one of my adapters (PS3/Wii), less expensive than either of those solutions.

SkinnyDabone...
Is he perhaps the first guy to Rock Out on the ION iED01?
