I set everything up, hoping to use my chair in the living room but it's too low. I'm actually going to stop by Guitar Center on the way home from work to pick up a throne.

How much do they charge for those stools?

I picked one up at the pawn shop a block from my place for about $10.
Much nicer than trying to play in a regular chair.

I checked out Guitar Center online and they have basic ones that start at $19.99. That'll work for me. Although, to my surprise, they have thrones that sell for $159!

Here's the throne I use. After playing drums for 20 years, I have found you can't skimp on your throne. Most of the cheap ones are very uncomfortable after playing more than half an hour.

I plan on getting that in black, maybe with the back (another $50)
Notice the MSRP is actually $220
If you are spending 2-3 hours on a stool every day (not including rock band) you're going to be willing to dish out that kind of cash. Cheaper ones tend to wobble which can cause you to tense up which is not good for playing drums. They also are usually not very comfortable for long periods of time and are cheap quality so they don't last that long before they start to wear out.
Edit: I'm not getting the throne just for Rock Band by the way. I actually play drums.
