Everything else working fine, but the microphone won't register like it's plugged in! I've tried all the plugs on the XBox 360 and the Hub it came with, but still no dice!

Any advice?

Do you have a standard controller connected as well? This is needed to navigate the menus.

You must use an actual console controller to navigate through the menus, in order to use the mic. If you're using the drums to navigate, then the drums are automatically selected as your instrument.

you have to use the controller to sign in for the microphone... you plug the mic into the machine and you make sure and plug in a regular game pad. U use the game pad to sign to use the microphone. Hope that makes sense. You basiclaly have to sign in with each instrument, and since the mic doesn't have any buttons to navigate or make selections, you have to do it via a regular gamepad.
It all confused me at first too.

Yeah, dude...and thanks to all of you for helping me out! Great community here! They really need to "sticky" something up on how to get your microphone working, because it's a total mystery unless someone really "shows" you how. ;)

I am having a microphone problem as well, we couldn't get it working because the controllers wont register.

We have 4 wireless controllers all with rechargable energizer that my roommate swears he charged and worked just the previous day. none of them can connect to the xbox after loaded RB, in fact they don't even do that spinning thing showing that they are looking for the network. Never had a problem before and we've tried turning off every wireless thing in our house to make sure there wasn't interference. As far as my knowledge, the controllers should still do the spinning thing if they were by themselves in the woods. Of course, without controllers we can't use the mic so that blows.

We do have two xbox 360s in the place with a floor separating the two but the other one was off while we were playing RB. The controllers all came from the 360 upstairs and have worked just the other day playing a different game on the 360 in question.

What i did per the xbox troubleshooting online guide is remove the batteries from the controller, try brand new ones, turn off the console, turn on the console, plug the batteries in to controller, press the radio search button on the console, press the radio search on the controller, press the green start key on the controller.

I did get the spinny thing once but it didn't connect and have tried with the usb hub in and out and various combinations of holding buttons and crap like that. I just cant get a single controller to connect so the mic can be used.

Any help appreciated

I found that I had to have my controller connected as player 1 before starting the game. Try turning the 360 on using the guide button on the controller. This should lock the controller to P1, the peripherals should then be players 2-4.
