Can someone please test 1080i on the PS3 version?

I still am not 100% clear on whether Rock Band on the PS3 will output 1080i resolution. Can someone please test this for me?

To test it, go into your video settings in the XMB and be sure that only 480p and 1080i are selected. Be sure that 720p and 1080p are NOT selected.

Then start the game. If the game outputs 1080i, then the TV will display a high def image (it might get scaled to 720p if your TV is 720p native, but that's ok). If it doesn't support 1080i, then the game will get downrezed to standard definition 480p.

Please? Can someone try this for me?

i don't think ps3 has any 1080i games... which i why i won't buy anything but ps3exclusives for it.

the problem is it doesn't upscale to 1080i, it will drop the rez to 480, which is why i say THANKS SONY!! thanks for making a system that doesn't support us 1080i users...

games don't scale themselves, ps3 hardware does, and it doesn't. it will downscale games that are natively 1080i to 480 (SD).

don't bother arguing because it is a fact.

maybe those 3 games u mentioned came in 1080i, idk. don't have them

and to the OP, if the game says 1080i on it, it will play 1080i; otherwise, it will drop to 480

sorry the reply is later than i thought. well if you were hoping for 1080i, i got bad news for you, it's a no go. the box also says it only supports 720p. i also tried 1080p (just in case;) ) and that's also a no go. both at 1080p and 1080i it downscaled to 480p, which i must say is bleh...spoiled with HD nowadays :) 720p is fine enough for me.

im pretty sure i set it up right. im familiar with setting the display settings because you have to manually set it to 1080p for call of duty to get it to display at 1080p. i left it at the default though and it plays at 720p. i can barely tell the difference so i rather have everything automatically select something in HD rather than downscale to 480p.
