vocals really low

I think there is something with the left and right triggers on the controller. You use the triggers to raise or lower the volume of your voice comming thru the speakers. try it

i had the the mic volume all the way up, the sensitivity up and the track volume all the way down but i can still barely hear my voice through the speakers. is there something else I'm missing or are the vocals supposed to be non existent?

That should make your voice blare out of your speakers. Have you checked mic volume under options to make sure it is also turned up? You may also want to turn the sensitivity a little bit down as you may be blowing it out.
