Californication was one of my records that was meaningful and awesome for me in high school.

Californication is the only song of RHCP I want on Rock Band as DLC and pretty good band too.

I love a lot of stuff on Californication. That was the album that was very expressive becuase of them coming out of rehab.

How do you guys feel about Blood sugar sex Magik being selected as the album?
I realize some would like Californication, though I can see the reasoning behind this. It's unique, sounds like almost nothing else on Rock Band, and has some radio hits (Under the Bridge, Give it Away, and Suck my Kiss).

I think it is awesome. The problem is how much editing they did with the songs. Some of there earliest material is some of there best in my opinion (not to say the new type is bad or anything).

RHCP are the ****. I cannot wait to get out of class tomorrow so I can DL the BSSM album!
I remember back when I was in High School we would play Can't Stop before Cross Country and Track meets and all the random outbursts of singing Under the Bridge.

RHCP was my favorite band for a long time...until I discovered Modest Mouse and Radiohead, that is ;). I love every album though, though Stadium Arcadium really got me into them, so that album will always hold a special place for me.

What bothers me is I dont see what Stadium Arcadium has a lot of haters. It is an amazing album.

It is. A lot of songs got overlooked I especially loved Slow Cheetah and Desecration Smile great songs
although I'd be one of those guys wanting Californication.

A lot of people hate how it mainstream. Let me show you how different that album is to a lot of RHCP's old stuff.

What RHCP fans should know is in the 90s RHCP broke up becuase they were going to rehab for there drug addiction they had for many many years. RHCP simple became more softer and started singing muc more spiritual songs becuase of that drug addiction.

I just got into RHCP a few days ago. I've been mainly listening to the mainstream hits I already know, but I'll get into the albums eventually.
"Can't Stop", even though it isn't incredibly heavy, is a song that pumps me the **** up. Also, their cover of "Higher Ground" is amazing. Very different from the original, and yet so similar and awesome.

I love Higher Ground! But I gotta say my favorite song from them is this:

I was really into Freaky Styley, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan and Mother's Milk. A little less so with BSSM.
The songs "Under the Bridge" and "Breaking the Girl" marked the beginning of the end for me. I didn't make the transition from Kiedis' rap-funk-metal singing to his nasal-crooning singing along with him.

I thiink BSSM was the best choice if they had to choose but ONE album, because it really covers all of the type of songs RHCP does. It has the funk element, the rap-based rock elements, but some slower more intricate stuff as well. Great album, not their ABSOLUTE best, but best for the game.

To those of you just getting into RHCP: Try and hunt down some b-sides, as they are often better than quite a few of the songs that make it onto the albums (which are already funky freaky goodness).

well ya, and not to mention that was when they started getting really popular. I still remember seeing the music video for "Give it Away" on VH1 when i was like 5 or 6. No one has mentioned it on here yet, but what about "By the Way" "Zephyr Song" and " "Cant Stop"? I wouldnt mind hearing those on DLC sometime.
BTW, to the dude who started this, right on man. As far as im concerned the Red Hots are in a league up with metallica and ACDC, no question. They brought funk to rock, and introduced alot of new sounds to the music "Spectrum".
and to that one kid up there, yes FLea is a god!!!

Not to diss BTW or SA, but I think it would have been great to see RHCP die at the top. (C was RHCP's best-selling album, after all)
