First off this is not a rant or a complaint about the delay. This is an idea that will hopefully help with the wait.
To all those who have managed to snag a copy of the game from the US I propose this to you. Why don't we form local meet-ups so we can all play the game together? This is a game best enjoyed while playing with others after all. We all know how many of your fellow Canadians are without a copy of their own due to the delay. Wouldn't this be a good way to meet some new friends and give those who were unable to get their own copy a shot at the game?
If anyone is interested post here with the area you live in and if you have managed to get a copy of the game and I'll keep this post updated and try and form you together into groups of the same area and then you can go from there.
I hope this gets a good turnout and everyone who wants to manages to get a chance to experience the game and make a few new friends along the way!

Canadian loser Sushi here has no Rock Band.
Which sucks because pretty much everyone here knows I was probably the one looking forward to it the most, or at least in the top 10.
Im also furious about the lack of DLC support even more. Heck I might even get Rock Band within the week, but the DLC thing is unacceptable.

In Vancouver here. I may, if I'm lucky, be getting a copy of the PS3 version on Friday (got a friend in the States who will bring me back a copy if it's not too heavy, he has a bad back). I also have a nice 42" TV and a decent hi-fi setup (fronts are Paradigm Mini Monitors, rears are Paradigm Titans, sub is Velodyne). If I do get a copy I'll post up in this thread because I'll be looking for guitarist / bassist / singer...I figure the local GF guys won't be that interested in RB, they didn't care much for GH. =)

That'd be pretty cool if you could get that happening.
I'm in Manitoba, but unfortunately, no copy yet. =(
Since the delayed release date is DECEMBER 19TH (grr), I'm going to try to convince my dad to get it off of amazon or another site, because I don't think we will be going down to the states. I dont understand why the date was delayed though?

Actually, it would be really cool if they had a local thing every so often in a different province each time for people to get together and play, just like the Guitar Hero competitions. Actually I think those are here in Winnipeg, I dont know about the other provinces, but if somebody else organized and held it as a provincial thing, where people from different provinces could come in, that'd be interesting.

Ouch. That's evil of them! Let that be a lesson that paying the duty is a much better option than having your item confiscated. By the way, where abouts in Canada do you live? Would you be willing to participate in this little program? You are the first one to post with an actual copy lol
Grrr these forum glitches are getting annoying. This takes place after
Drove across the border, got to Bellingham, got in line, got RB!!!
Wanna hear something sucky? When I acrossed the border I was stopped to pay duty. And when I went in to the building to pay it I saw a perfectly good 360 version of rock band sitting behind the desk. So I go:
"Did one of your employees get Rock Band too?" (to a higher-up looking lady)
"Why would you say that?"
"Because there's a Rock Band over there (pointing)"
"Oh that game!"
"Yeah, I have one too; that's why Im paying duty"
"We've had a few of those come over the border already, it seems to be really popular."
"Is that why your employee got one?"
"What? No, some guy thought he could get over the border without declaring it. So, we just take it and auction it off"
Ouch.

I went to Ancaster this morning at 4am, met some other Canadians, also jumping the border, at a Target in line at 7am, had three rock bands for 360 by 8 am (2 per guest, plus my girl got one), then went to get an iphone at Walden Galleria. I dont understand that if I live in toronto and you guys are pretty hardcore, why you didnt jump the border. I noticed some guys live in Brampton, Hamilton, etc. Thats even closer, and I think I made it into Niagara Falls NY in an hour and a half.
In any case, I was going to throw the third one on ebay tomorrow morning but if you live in Toronto and want it, I can sell it to you. The duties alone were a hundred bucks. That and 8 % tax in new york made it 23% tax. I just couldnt hide 3 rock bands from customs with everyone being inspected.

Well I already go to a bar in Toronto on Wednesday nights, for guitar hero battles so I take my gear there and I have plenty of people to play with. Look up "guitar hero battles at Tiger Bar." Plus Im moving in a couple weeks. I think I payed roughly $215 a unit after duty and taxes.

Went to the Buffalo 24hr one. Arrived about 7:50am. They had 4 left. I bought two (a backup... just in case). But my primary bundle is good... but I haven't decided if I'll try to sell it to a friend of mine or not (who'll want it but isn't in any hurry). Anyhow please do not bother emailing me about selling it. If I decide to do it, I'll certainly post it here and not for some ridiculous premium. But for now, I think it'll be for local drum battles as myself and a friend of mine are roughly the same level right now. Anyhow the point wasn't to rub it in anyones faced, but to say it was pretty damned easy to get a copy. None of the Best Buys I drove by had anyone in front of them and the Target near the 405 there still had a PS3 bundle in there at about 10am.

I need a ps3 and I am so pissed at HArmonix.. I am not going to buy this for more than $200..
I have nothing good to say about this company right now .. I doubt i need to go into details.
I think it is a low down dirty shame you had to pay so much duty and tax on something that should have cost you the same price at a canadian retail outlet..

I am so tempted to but I have to work tomorrow too. I'm also tempted to buy Blondguy26's extra copy. Worried about what happens if something goes wrong with it though. Returning would be a pain and i hear of issues with warranties on US models in Canada. And it seems like there are alot of issues with hardware at the moment :S Damn you Harmonix! I'm one of the few who'll be using PS3.
I went into the local EB Games in Ancaster this morning to pick up my copy of "Uncharted"... guy behind the counter gets my info to complete that preorder, and then looks at me apologetically:
"By the way -- it looks like you'll be waiting until December for your copy of 'Rock Band'. Apparently, EA decided to pull the shipments in order to fill the US demand -- sorry about that."
At least I'll have the time to complete all the unlockables on COD4 and Uncharted...

Yeah, I spent a lot. Dont even get me started on the iphone, what with their scare tactics and stuff at Apple. All I know is, the one unit I opened works fine, to my brief play with the game. No real hiccups. The other two I have, one for my roomate, and one for whatever were gently handled by me at least. If you like groups playing this game or whatever, like I said, guitar hero battles at "tiger bar/college st diner" in Toronto (check facebook). I still dont know if i'll sell it on ebay because most are fetching 245can. I'll barely make my money back given gas, hours spent in line, etc. I'd rather not be one of those snakes then have to ship it out. Also I dont want to roam the streets asking people for money for it because I might get jacked or something. I seriously want to give it away at a fair price, pending that donating it to someone who would other wise have no way of obtaining it, a handicapped kid/family who is in need something like that. I would much rather like selling it to someone in real need rather than giving it away to some kid who wouldn appreciate it.
I don't want to open the units because, each peripheral is rammed inside separate cardboard boxes-10 minutes to open all the packaging. Even the USB hub, mic connectors, and drumsticks are all individually packaged within the box. If I opened it and checkd the components, someone would say its used or something/almost impossible to re pack nicely for someone as a present. Its tightly packed so I dont know where people are getting broken peripherals from. Also the disclaimer for malfunctioning peripherals is a red sheet on top of everything inside my box and...get this it has FRENCH text in the disclaimer which states the support website for peripheral returns

Dude, were you the guy at Target in the Montreal Canadians toque in line with me today? I wonder where that man is today, he left so quickly, I really wanted to thank him. He said he was living in Oakville. He held back some soccer mom who butted in line and tried to pry a rock band from my girlfriends hands (she not very big). Wherever he is, thanks dude. Hope you kids like the game.
Wow, wherever he is, I hope somebody buys him a drink. I can just imagine how that would play out, thank goodness he didn't let politeness get in the way. Gotta look out for your fellow gamer and protect them from grab-handed jerks.
To have your game snatched by a soccer mom -- a fate worse than death.
I don't have the time or reliable transport (car is such a POS I take the bus everwhere), so I couldn't do a border-hop myself. Just a stone drag that I couldn't secure a copy myself.

You are actually considering going to the US to go shopping on Black Friday? Do you want to get trampled to death?
I can always bring a tazer. Or ride in on a moose. :p
If I can get there early enough, might not be too much of a problem? Or may be a deathwish. Oh well.

WAIT. I just read something. Walmart is not releasing their copies until Black Friday... It's a long shot, but maybe, just maybe...

You can add me.
I'm not that guy, but if you were at the Niagara Falls Target, I was the first person in line with the tall blonde guy and the girl.
OK, cool my gamertag is bumgroper. Yeah, That was nuts today, some freako guy in some black and white camo pants was all power walking past me. It was funny because he said he wouldnt and he was 3 guys behind me. So when he started some sort of mad dash I stuck the old foot out. Its all good though, that place was rammed with copies. I could kinda tell who was American there though, not to badmouth Americans, but thos soccer moms I tell you. They were just nuts, almost got tramped walking in the door if it wasnt for that huge dude.

For most of this week I'm busy with plans that have already been made. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind meeting up with people to let them have a whack at the game.
Well it's still a long time from Dec 20th, so if your schedule frees up let us know :)

Yeah, I couldn't believe people started doing the power walk/near dash business. There were more than enough copies and not that many people. It was just stupid. I hear what you mean about who was who. It was easy to pick out the Canucks that were in line. I remember seeing you leaving the Target and you were grabbing a cart cause you were about to drop the 2 you had and your girlfriend was having a bit of a time with the box she had.
I'll definitely add you to XBLive. Quite the unique tag heh.

Foolish of me to think that, since there were more than fifty copies at the Bellingham Best Buy I wouldn't have to venture down there till tomorrow afternoon...
Anyone know of any stores that might still have one?

I've decided to calm down, lay low, and wait for Dec. 20th. I don't want to try my luck with a good or bad RB box set, and have to fight for that 50% chance on top of it. My preorder at the local EB should be fine.

they can write what the holy hell they want, if the product is defective, you have an absolute legal right to return it for a refund (in both the u.s. *and* canada). stupid pink sheets notwithstanding.

Shaderone. Inside the Box Set is a pink sheet stating that if any of the peripherals are either non-functional or defective, that retailers cannot take back or exchange the game. They state also, that if you need replacements or whatever, to contact HMX thru their website.
So good or bad box set, it doesn't matter where you get it from.

Well, I got desperate and bought one of those $235 ones off of eBay. Got a deal on it though..the guy wanted $250+$35 shipping, i only had $275, so he knocked $15 off for me and it's like $272. He said he has it in hand and is shipping as soon as my payment gets to him, which should be today. Hopefully I'll have it by Monday or Tuesday. :D

...and companies have their right to pull this kind of baloney as well. Look at apple, certain retailers simply CANNOT accept returns on ipods for example. I'm not saying that to bum ppl out, just trying to be informative.

no they don't. man, quit being a *****!
when they say "we can't take returns" they mean "if we take the return Apple won't take it from us so we lose money".
that, let's be clear, is THEIR PROBLEM for being dumb enough to buy from a supplier with a policy like that. it is not your problem as the consumer. if a store sells you a broken product they have to take it back. they cannot refuse you this right, and if they do, you *can* sue the ass off them. whether they will lose out on the returned product is their own damn problem not yours. stand up for your rights just a little here, people.

I'm searching now to see if the one guy who brought his bundle back to Canada and had something go wrong ever got an answer to his problem. EA didn't want to replace his guitar due to shipping or some junk like that. That's kinda what's stopping me from getting one right now. If I wait till it's released here EA has to honor warranties right? And if they pull the same **** for some reason atleast if I bought it here from a store I could return it.

Manufacturer warranties are far less legally strict than store returns, since you have no direct relationship with the manufacturer: they more or less do operate on whatever terms the manufacturer specifies. If it says in the warranty that it's only applicable within the country where the item was sold, or something, that will stand up legally. The only place which has a legal obligation to do a refund / exchange for that guy is the store who actually *sold* him the product.
edit: but yeah, if you wait for the Canadian release, EA should honour whatever warranty they sell RB with, and I expect that they pretty much will.

Yeah, I think that atleast until we have confirmation of warranties being honored on units bought from the US I'm going to wait until the Canadian release. I'm sure more people have caved and bought off of ebay or travelled to the US in search of a bundle though. Let's get this list longer :)
On a side note, anyone know of any places in the Hamilton/Burlington/Oakville area that does GH tournaments and stuff like the "Tiger Bar" in Toronto? Blondeguy26 informed me of the Tiger Bar but its too far to travel to on a regular basis so I'd like to find somewhere around here.

St. Catharines is close to Burlington. Theres a bar here that does GH tourneys on tuesdays. Too be honest I forget which one it is though, I THINK its Big Bucks. Don't quote me on that though.

I snagged the EB pre-order a week after GH3 was released, before I had heard about the delay. (Even took the day off work to go get my copy and rock out the rest of the afternoon).
So I had a buddy run across the border and grab a bundle from the Best Buy in Dearborn, MI.

In Ottawa. I drove down to Watertown NY (just under 2hr drive) last night to pickup 3 bundles. 2 for my co-workers. Google gave me wrong directions in Watertown and then a store clerk gave me wrong directions again (I swear...) The guy working at subway set me straight. Luckily it only rained hard and not snowed like we're getting today.

Nope. None yet, I've only played for a few hours total and haven't even had a chance to set up the drums. Once I finish all my homework (which I SHOULD be working on now) I'll be getting into BWT with my buddies.
