I think we need some good Viking metal. They really need to give us something like this filled with heavy vocals, guitar and drums. It's slow sometimes, but never boring. I'd recommend anything from With Odin On Our Side.

If they're viking metal, why did they get their name from Lord of the Rings? (Amon Amarth if the elvish name for Mount Doom, IIRC.)

A lot of bands choose names that lose their meaning as they develop their sound, but since they are known by the name they can't very well change it without eroding the name recognition that they worked hard to build up.

I love the new Amon Amarth video for "Twilight of the Thunder God." It's very cheesy/cool and the song would be fun to play and sing for RB2. Great album, too. Their musical style has definitely matured with their two most recent albums "With Odin on Our Side" and "Twilight of the Thunder God."

I agree! Runes is also awesome, although I like "Valhall Awaits Me" more. It amuses me that the special edition of Twilight of the Thunder God comes with bobbleheads of the band members. I can see their heads windmilling in unison on my dashboard right now...
