OT: What's wrong with the forums?

This is a bit off topic, but what's the deal with the forums? I've noticed that when someone makes a new post in an existing thread, it'll sometimes move that brand new post all th wa to the top. For people who've never read anything in that particular thread, it can get very confusing, because when we open the thread, we can't tell which post is supposed to be the first post in the thread.

Why does the time say 11:17 AM when my settings are set to EST?

I've got 4:23 here, when it should display 8:23 PM Central Time

Well it says All times are GMT. If that is the case the time should say 7:25 PM. It's 8:25 here in Texas (Central). I know that Pacific is 2 hours behind me and Mountain should be 1 hour behind me.

Tell me about it! We're currently doing some work on the servers which is also, sadly, screwing with the time and thusly screwing up when posts were....emmm.... posted. Hopefulyl this will end soon.

Its happened again!!!

This happened back in May sometime, the times used to be correct but then went all outta whack and posts were put in the wrong order, i managed to get first post on a rock blog somehow b4 sean?

It looks like a similar thing happened again?

EDIT: why is my post here? it doesnt make sense at all, even with the time glitch mine should be after sean's... crazy

My guess is the server had the incorrect time when the bottom two (__GABO__ and Sean's) was posted. It was one hour ahead. Now the time is correct and all new posts are going in post time order, which is how it's stored in the database.
As soon as we past the time on Sean's post, it will put the new ones below his.

Time settings don't actually change, it's all just a mind-game. And since it's off-topic, that's what the General forum is for.
