Wootness. A patch was released today.. wasn't sure what it did, but the first thing I did was start up my 'broken' guitar and play one of the new metallica songs... guitar worked great.
looks like our biggest problem is fixed, yay!
at least for xbox live users. :)

SO how is that going to work for those of us that don't have Xbox Live.....?!?
Do you have a broadband connection? You don't need a Gold Account to get the update. Just have it plugged in for the start and you are good to go.
If you can't get a connection to your Xbox, bring the Xbox to your connection! :)

Mine works as if it would normally... =\ Before and after the patch, I'll keep everyone updated on it though, glad to hear it fixed some of the "broken" guitars :p

Great! ...but my guitar is broken in a unique and horrible way.
On upstrum, the bar sticks for almost half a beat. It's wrecking my ability to play since I have to manually push it back to neutral or up-and-down strum; I can't do repeated upstrums without notes being missed.
Time to return the thing to EA... assuming I can get the plastic head off without breaking the thing. :(

Cant you just unplug your internet cable and put it in your xbox?
No. The 360 requires broadband. I have only have dial-up available where I live.
I hope you are right about the PC file patch...

For those of you who installed the xbox 360 patch, and now have double strum problems:
This will supposedly delete any downloaded updates:
from the dashboard do:
system tab -> memory -> device options (when hard drive is selected)
then do: x, x, LB, RB, x, x.
A 'do you want to perform maintenance' window pops up.
Say yes.
This will apparently delete all game updates - you might need to
un-network your 360 to avoid re-downloading the bad patch though.

No, I have no broadband access, otherwise I would do the Xbox silver. I live in the sticks and broadband is not offered out here. Since the guitar issue seems to be a mjor issue I am hoping Harmonix will make the patch available through other means. (Order a CD, or post a file that could be downloaded via a PC and thumb-drive transfered to the 360?). I don't have a broken guitar yet, but it seems many do, and it would suck to be left out in the cold because they only made the patch available to those with XBox Live.

the will probably put a file on the computer. thats what you can do for ps3 with a system update. Cant you just unplug your internet cable and put it in your xbox?
