View Full Version : DIY Drum/Drum model question

I've heard from some DIY sites that the same drums, when hooked up to different models (different Xbox models and PS2/PS3) work differently. I know the models work differently out of the box, but I always assumed it was because of the different ways the pads were set up. Is the brain of the controller different in the models as well?

Also interesting: I've made 4 pads from Remo pads (piezo epoxied to sheet metal circles inside the pads) that work great testing (fills, organ solo, etc) but occasionally miss while playing songs. I'm still trying to work out some kinks, but now that I've come across this information I'm realizing that the problems I'm having are similar to the problems the set (an EL) had out of the box. I'm wondering if the brain of the drum set can't always process the hits it gets (and that the game requires...).

Any input would be very helpful...I'll be very upset if the work I put into modding the controller (making it so I can plug in speaker wire to connect to the pads) was a waste of time.
