I spent this afternoon over in my friend's big basement doing a little tour with our band, and when I tried to take our save home on my SD card to unlock more on my own it said that the Rock Band save file is copy protected.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is this intentional? I really don't want to have to lug my ps3 anywhere that I want to take Rock Band just to be able to play any of the songs I've unlocked. If there was an unlock code available already it wouldn't be as big of a deal.
PS. His internet was down and so we didn't log into psn or post any scores online or anything. Does this effect the save information at all?

Wow. That's really disappointing. I was hoping that if I met some fellow PS3 Rockers in the area, I could just toss my character onto a flash drive, grab any needed instruments and head over. I hope that this is possible, or that it will be soon. :)

it probably is intentional. this keeps cheating to a minimum as well. this way you can't copy someone else's save from the internet that has 100% everything on Expert and have your score be through the roof as well.
that does suck, but i don't think i'll be lugging all this equipment with me anyways.

As mentioned, it probably is intentional. Other PS3 games have had this problem with their save files as well (Need for Speed: Carbon for example) and I'm not aware of a workaround.
To add a related question, can DLC be restored after being backed up by Backup Utility? (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/backuputility.html)
