Fred Thompson tried, but didn't make it out of the primary.
I'm sure there are a few of them, but I don't know enough about their background, qualifications, and viewpoints to endorse any actor at this time. If they take a serious stab at it (like Thompson did) I'd find out about them and then judge them. Ultimately the public decided he was not the most qualified member even of his own party.

As many ties are there may be between acting and leading a country, I'd prefer to see actors stay the hell out of office.
Except Van Damme. I'd follow that man to hell and back, I would.

ronald reagan is why we are in this mess. he was crazy. no actor should be president. they are all a bunch of fruitcakes.
I dont think a president 20-28 years ago would be a serious effect on how the economy is now, as opposed to, yaknow, the one we've had for the last 8.
though, I do agree. actors should not be presidents.
shwarzenegger makes a good governer, but lets stop there.

Well, i'm kinda playing on the fact that there was still a question of whether or not McCain could be president back in 2000, pretty much another ridiculous Bush tactic.

Same here, Jesse Ventura seems like he know what's going on. One of the few Independents I'd vote for, and would actually have a decent shot at presidency, him and Bloomberg. Depending of course who's the opponent.

Reagan is PROBABLY in the top 5 presidents of all time in terms of what they did for the country and globally. You know, up there with Lincoln, FDR, and Truman. Truman mainly because he did so well in so little time with WW2....

What he did for the country? Creating the Savings & Loans Crisis? Cutting funding for Medicaid, Food Stamps, and education? Cutting thousands of people from Social Security disability roles? Turning a surplus into a deficit and more than quadrupling the national debt?
What he did for the globe? Iran-Contra? Foreign policy in Lebanon that led to the creation of Hezbollah?

Iran-Contra wasn't his fault. He didn't give authority for weapons to be sold to get the hostages out. The only reason he gets heat for it, was because he was easiest to blame, which in itself isn't an entirely bad thing (to have someone to blame), but it's not unlike the heat Bush gets because of Iraq.
His policies won us the Cold War, which that it itself outweighs virtually any negatives that could be said against him. I personally firmly believe we're A LOT better off as the sole superpower, and yes, foregoing Detente was a gamble, but it was a gamble that ended up paying off.
I'm anxious to see why you really think Reagan was the sole cause of the S & L crisis, as all that I've read about it has pointed to problems before his first, term, and also problems caused by other then him.
I'm not an economics major, and this is certainly my opinion, but I firmly support Reaganomics, since it goes with the capitalistic views our country has grown upon, as well as Laissez-faire.
