X360 Mic problem (Screeching noise)

All is fine until the song starts, the mic picks up my voice but there is a horrible high pitched screeching noise that's louder than everything else. I've tried with and without dts, with the mic on different volume and sensitivity levels aswell as different usb ports. Please help! I'm getting desperate.

Are you using the Rock Band mic, or the headset?
Could be a problem with the plugin on either.

It's only when I'm using the rock band supplied mic. I've also tried the mic on my computer and the soundquality was horrible so it's probably the mic that's fubar. Strange though, it's only been lying still in my shelf since the last time I used it, and then it worked perfectly. BTW, English is my second language..
