After taking a quick browse amongst the forums, I see that some people are picking some very wonderful and diverse songs. But most are making "Metal" or "Classics" setlists. Sadly, usually this degrades into someone telling a Metal fan to go kill a kitten or someone calling an Emo fan a "***". I would imagine that most people here in the forums played and enjoyed if not LOVED the first two Guitar Hero games. One of the great things about them is that when I showed someone the game for the first time, everyone could pick at least 2 songs that they knew and liked. The diversity was a huge attraction. GH2 had some incredibly fast, angry Metal and some slower less vicious Rock. Hell, they even had a fantastic acoustic intro with Crazy on You!
Yes, we know a lot of people want to play Crazy Train. (I'm one of them.)
Same with Stairway, anything Metallica or a million other suggested tracks. I'd be hard pressed to find a song that hasn't been suggested! Besides, who knows...they may release downloadable genre packs after the game is out (Shred Masters, Classics of Rock, Death Metal, etc.) that I'll be sure to purchase. So if you don't get to play Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry...NOT Johnny Rivers)upon release, you may get to a few months down the road. (Sooner would be better than later though, guys :))
I guess what point I'm trying to make is: Just have faith. Harmonix captured lighning in a bottle twice. Call me a fanboy or kissass if you want, but I've never before experienced a game where there really is no age limit. Everyone loves some kind of music. And this game is threatening to become a new paradigm in gaming. I haven't been this excited for a console game release since...Ocarina of Time, maybe?
This game is going to seriously **** some people's worlds up. I eagerly await it's arrival. And when it does, it won't matter one goddamn bit if your an Emo fan, a hardcore Norweigan Death Metal acolyte or a card carrying member of the KISS army...
...because your asses are all mine. I look forward to it.

Very well said. I don't think it matters what kind of music is in there, as long as it's fun. And everyone should just appreciate the fact that we get to rock out to awesome games like this (as I'm sure we all do) and not ***** about (insert band you don't like) being in the game. But yea, I haven't been this excited since Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. And I have NEVER gotten as much life out of a game as I have GH1 and 2. So when you guys [Harmonix] do it again this holiday, I'll be there all the way baby!

I'd say your job is safe, sean. From what I've seen, most of the users here can barely operate a keyboard.
