Am I the only one struggling with the new guitar and enjoying it?

I was a pretty big downstrummer, and I find the new guitar doesn't really respond well to my style of downstrumming, so I've been actually alt-strumming and it's like I'm a (sorta) newbie all over again.

I'm getting three and four stars on early Expert songs and I'm really having a blast. Plus, it feels way better (to me) when alt-strumming versus my old SG.

I guess I'm in the minority. :3

i enjoy alt-strumming. it works a lot better for me and it's much easier to keep the rhythm. also, it's less tiring. i've been doing that since GH first started so it's nothing new to me. glad someone else is enjoying it. Everyone else seems kinda pouty that they can't continuously strum straight down. lol

Oh, it works for most parts, but on the faster sections (i.e. where I used to rapidly mash downstrum instead of alt-strumming, but not where I used to have to alt-strum a la Misirlou) I just don't find it rebounds right.

I'm kinda forcing myself to relearn it hehe.

As a life-long down/upstrummer, I initially enjoyed the challenge of alt-strumming. But then I got fed up with missing notes I normally hit, plugged in my Xplorer, and went back to rocking like I used to do.

Yeah, I'm a big down strummer and I'm having to alt-strum on the Fender without much success as it does not seem to register properly for me in alt-strum either.

I also was thinking the same thing myself that it does not rebound right -- I don't think the spring on the strummer is hard enough on these new guitars.
