View Full Version : Any hardware sleuths/modders want to try to give the strum bar more rebound?

The guitar is not all bad, but this strum bar is gonna kill me if I have to play with it as-is. I like that it is quiet, and soft is not necessarily bad, but you have to hit it harder than usual to get it to register, not to mention there is NO rebound to it. My thumb hurts so much, I feel like it is going to spontaneously combust any moment.

I am curious if there are any people out there that have experimentrf/want to experiment with giving the strum bar some rebound (either by spring, rubber band, or some other mechanism). I'm curious what people can come up with.

No rebound? Shouldn't the strum be returning to neutral after you let go of it? My upstrum's been getting jammed in the up position and I was assuming this was a hardware problem...

If the guitar is designed so you have to physically push it back to neutral or downstrum after every upstrum a lot of bassists are gonna be unhappy. And I'll be forced to ditch the thing and just use my xplorer.

That's weird... I just flip the thing as if I was playing my guitar (instead of doing a slight push) I just fling my thumb across the very tip of the bar and it seems to work fine for me. If you're having a problem doing that you might want to call EA =\ (although after doing that so long really hurts my finger, I would start pushing it but i'm afraid i'll break the thing)

I can't just brush it; I play flat on a table and I have to pull the lever towards me, then ease up or let go so it goes back to neutral. Even when I let go, though, the strum has a tendency to remain stuck there.

Works A-OK on the xplorer, why wouldn't that work on the fender? Presumably the strum bar, when non-broken, should return to neutral when you aren't applying pressure.

Anyway, going off topic. I apologize.

Guitar modding is awesome and I hope some folks come up with cool ones. Like maybe a mod that makes it humanly possible to remove the head of the guitar after you've snapped it on :)
