Look, I know there's already some posts about this but I posted a new thread because some of the others were just starting to be slamfests.

Here is the deal:

For most of us who play Guitar Hero/Rock Band type games, it seems crazy to play the game without the way it was intended...but the fact is..I know quite a few people that play Guitar Hero with just the standard controller.

Before you attack them, Guitar Hero was kind of just Frequency and Amplitude (games made by Harmonix before GH/RB that used just the controller) with more impressive songs/modes/input methods.

Although I fully plan to buy the Rock Band bundle (I wouldn't dare play without the instruments), a friend of mine was looking to buy just the game and play with the Controller. We looked all over to see if it supported the controller or not. Many people on various forums said it didn't work, so I decided to go straight to the source.

I went to Rock Band's support/Contact information..and it said to contact EA regarding support for the game...so I did. This is what they had to say about the issue to me:

Hello!

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support. I understand that you're having a controller issue with Rock Band. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Regarding your inquiry; it should be possible to use the Xbox 360 controller in place of the Guitar Peripheral.

Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts game in the future, please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help Knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com).

Thank you!

Obviously this is a poor example of support knowledge on EA's side, or Rock Band is supposed to support the controller, but its a software issue that needs patched.

The simple fact is, I don't think anybody has been able to play Rock Band with just a controller, so EA was incorrect.
