I can't figure out how to connect my Xbox 360 headset into my new Rock Band 2 guitar. Am I missing out on some special adapter? If so, where can I purchase one? I'd like to talk to my online bandmates, but can't figure it out...
Any help on this issue would be seriously appreciated. Many thanks.

The same way you plug it into the RB1 guitar, with a little adapter. It came with the original Rock Band bundles, and I believe the original RB1 drums and guitars came with them too.
If you don't have one, all you need is a little 3" or 6" stereo headphone headphone extension cable. Plug your headset into that, plug the cable into the headset port on the guitar.

Or you can cut off the little plastic tabs on your Xbox headset that are keeping it from plugging in.

Yeah, the RB2 guitar I purchased this weekend didn't come with the funky plastic adapter from the original RB guitar. Funny thing is, the adapter (extension) doesn't fit correctly into the newer guitar.. just wiggles around never making contact. Very lame, you would figure the guitar would at least ship with a working adapter.. :(
On the flipside, the new guitar feels a decent bit nicer. Strum bar & firmer whammy are SWEET!

Davidshek -- Many thanks. Your post helped me figure it out. I'm up and running now, fully mic-ed. I truly appreciated your helpful, and detailed, post.

Oooh, that's where the headset jack is! Thanks so much! hahaha.
Anyone have a picture of the adapter though? I didn't know my bundle came with one o I probably threw it out... :/

It came in the box with the USB hub, there should be 2 of them. They're in individually wrapped little plastic bags. In each bag was a little white instruction sheet, a plastic clip to hold the cord onto your mic, and a short (like 3") cable.

And what is the jack used for on the PS3 version of the guitar?

If there is no voice chat on the PS3 version, then it's for nothing. Just like the battery compartment on the wired Xbox360 guitars. It serves no purpose and is only there because they use the same mold to make all of the different consoles' guitars.

There is voice chat on the PS3 version, and it's not just molded in. If that were the case, then it would have a plastic plug, not a metal jack that is wired to the main circuit board.

Once again, I'll use the battery compartment on the X360 wired Strats as an example. They were not just molded in, they have metal battery contacts and all, wired onto the boards. But they still didn't do anything.
