View Full Version : Do you have to increase your difficulty to progress in the World Tour?

Played for a few hours last night with friends. It was a lot of fun. I was on either hard or expert on guitar, friend on medium on bass and the other on easy on drums. After awhile, we stopped getting fans. It told us to increase the difficulty to get more.
Personally, I think this is a terrible idea and a major mistake. Eventually, we'll move away from easy on the drums, but the bass player has no interest in moving beyond medium in the guitar, and he shouldn't have too if that's his choice. You should be able to unlock all the songs and play the game to completion regardless of difficulty.
Is this the case, or am I missing something here? If it is the case, this game may have been a colossal waste of money.

I think its a great idea. You wouldn't ***** about having to acquire more licenses in GT would you? This is just the same.
BTW, Nice first post ass!

If I can't play a game all the way through on any difficutly, I do consder that a big flaw and for my group, it's a waste of money. However, knowing there isn't an 'ending' per se is interesting, I didn't know that.
We couldn't unlock any more songs last night, weezer and nirvana kept coming up ad infinitum in the mystery sets. I like those songs, but after playing them 7 times you just get sick of them.

Why are people threatening to return the game for the dumbest reasons?
Tell your bassist to go higher up or he is kicked out.

I have never played GT, so I don't get the reference. Some people don't like playing on higher difficulties, and they shouldn't be penalized for that. I've noticed a growing trend in some games (madden being my most recent discovery) that the casual gamer seems to be getting left behind in some aspects. Forced difficulty upgrades seems to be more common place. Can't a guy just pretend to play a song because he likes the songs?

Uh, no. If he doesn't want to move up from medium, that's his choice. I am not going to tell him how to play a game. And I never threatened to return anything, just that it would be a waste of money IF this is true.
It's a group game, meant to be played with friends. And games are supposed to be fun. Some people, my friend included, think playing higher difficulties is not fun. So why play a game if it's not fun for you? Sure, I like playing on expert becaue it feels more real, but that's not for everyone.

Dude if you need more tracks just have someone go through any of the solo tours on any diffculty. It's not that hard. Truth be told though, make the guy go to medium, on bass anyone can play medium who has played GH. The game is trying to be realistic. The more technically advanced you band is, the more popular it will be, the money you make and more doors will open to your band. I went from easy to medium no problem on drums last night. By the end of this weekend I will be on hard.

As far as I know, you can play the Hall of Fame Induction and Endless Setlist (the two big end-game setlists) on Medium. You shouldn't need to go any higher. I also believe that at that point you will have unlocked all of the songs. The only things you will not have unlocked will be several cities (Reykjavik and Tokyo, I believe) and a few venues. You should still be able to do everything that a Hard player could do, though.

Thanks for that information Bakkster, that's good to know. Time to get better on those drums.

Well I dunno about the common knee jerk reaction to everything not being the way people want it being "the game sucks" or "it's a waste of money" or "GH3 FTW".. I mean. Jesus. Perspective people.
That said, it does appear that you need certain fan counts to unlock certain venues. My crew has hit the 240K or whatever limit for Medium. I tried moving up to hard on drums and while I could probably do it for a few songs at this stage.. the singing is going to be the most difficult to pull off, it really is, I think, the bottleneck in difficulty.
Anyhow seeing as how BWT mode doesn't have an ending and it looks like you can have access to all the tracks through other means, I'm not sure this should be in any way any sort of deal breaker or a big complaint. About all you're robbed of is maybe a city or some venues. Like you have time to look at the scenery when playing anyhow.
